Discovery in disarray.... ?

Yo Lim

do you have to rub in the fact that Cycle Sport is English and you always get yours a few days before I get mine in the mail? Not only do you make me jealous but you quote all of the important articles. Can we have a week's grace period before spoiling my toilet reading?

Sorry Barn - I tried not to go in to too much about CS issue delibertately so that it wouldn't spoil the reading for other subscribers.
Apologies for that.

I agree - a weeks moritorium from the 1st of every month should give enough time for all subscribers to receive their latest edition.
Apologies again.

(this months issue is well worth waiting for though!).

This months Cycling Sport (Hincapie on the front) has an article about DC and the Giro.

And you've guessed it, CS says that although Savoldelli is supposed to be team leader of DC, it appears that Danielson is actually being regarded as DC's leader.

Even if that statement is speculative - the fact that it is in print in CS - actually undermines Savoldelli, I think.
This is right out of Danielson's mouth. He doesnt sound like he is being regarded as the team leader.

A lot of yesterday was positioning, and I was just fortunate to be in the right position at the right time. It was a pretty chaotic finish; the cobbles were really slippery and before the cobbles it was insane.

And that climb didn't suit me very well - that sort of power and explosive type of climb is really bad for me. But I want to be a Grand Tour rider some day and they put these things in the races, so it's my responsibility to be there; I'm happy to be there, but it's such a long race and we have a long ways to go.

Savoldelli, he did fantastic; he didn't lose any time - he actually gained more time on everyone else - so all missions accomplished yesterday. For Paolo to be seven seconds in front of most of GC contenders, it shows he's in fantastic condition. He knows this race better than anyone, and I think he'll be very, very good at the end of the race.

I think I'm improving, getting into the right position before the climbs. Yesterday showed I'm improving; it's not as easy as just saying 'Stay in the front and be safe' - it's a matter of being efficient with your energy, so for me, to be at the front and be efficient was very important. I mean, these first couple of weeks are very, very hard, but any energy you can save and still accomplish the job is a bonus. So for me right now, it's just trying to be at the front and be there as effortlessly as possible.

Today, the team plan is the same as yesterday - keep out of trouble and save the team for the team time trial. I think that's an excellent race for us and I'm really excited to see how it works out, so we'll see...

I heard that Eki called White a bee-atch and that McCartney started sharing a room with Savoldelli's secret twin (who is known furtively as "Salvodelli"). Apparently a BIG character ("Mr Legweak") comes back from the dead too. Must see stuff.

Disarray indeed. It’s the best move for Hoste. DC doesn’t like non-American leaders. They would prefer an American coming 5th than a Belgium winning.

Btw/ There is a nice photo of Hoste carrying his bike up the Koppenberg at Flanders…. a small little hill that Boonen rode up with ease. :p

There is nothing to say.... Discovery were woeful. They dropped Eki 3 times ! LA was in the car and obviously giving the wrong instructions. Il Falco will be fuming with his team and will be moving next year. What a diabolic effort. Team CSC really has a swift outfit. Discovery is in disarray.

Where are the postings about the great Disco train in today's TTT ??? :p

This on the Paceline:

With only the first three riders using the aero bars, Discovery opted for safety over streamline, as they were not willing to take unnecessary risks on a stage where they felt they were already in a position of power by being up on GC. With arms in the bars, and away from the brakes, there is more risk of an accident if a rider were to tire or make a mistake. But the result is more effort expended by the riders, but this was a pre-race decision the team made together.

Safety first boys... :p

Is this serious ? First there is the bad planning at PR in regards to mechanical preparation and now this ! The team is in disarray and has been surpassed by CSC in terms of professionalism and planning. LA's books harped on for years about how "every second counts"... when did they ever go for safety over time !?? They should admit it.. they got beat and got beat bad.

OMG...... The streak of DC dominating Riis time after time is finally ended!!!! I bet Riis's bald head is now glowing with pride knowing that since JU beat him in the TDF and Lance showing him how to win the TDF 7 times in a row..... {The TTT helping with this} Patience has finally paid off for Riis. He finally beat Discovery. He got those important seconds back that his TT'ers will need in the mountains.
T-M was impressive also. Riis has to be worried about that situation come July.

I didn't see todays TTT.

But I have read the report from cyclingnews.

DC in third place - CSC and TMO battling out for first place.

I did say that CSC were going to win the TTT before the TTT.
I did say that CSC were the best TTT out there, before this TTT.
Today's result now proves both points.

Todays result also suggests that DC are in difficulty.

Julich the man who was written off by the DC-tifosi was their fastest rider.

Get your shots in while you can guys, if Savoldelli comes through in the mountains you all will be eating your words.;)

But Julich was not the fastest man on the course. T-M had 4 guys faster.

Musette wrote off Julich earlier.

He was the fastest CSC man on the course.

I think Savoldelli will put up a fight - he's a class rider.

I just hope that he gets the full support of his team.

Yeah Savoldelli is still one of the major players for the overall, but it won't be easy for him since the TTT was one of the stages where he had to win some time...
