Women Don't Get Fat". It talks about exactly what you've been
saying---that French women do NOT diet---they eat and ENJOY small
portions of everything they like, being careful to not have pasta AND
bread, or dessert AND potatoes. It also says that if today she eats rich
food, tomorrow will be a very light food day, to create balance.
This is clearly the most intelligent way to eat. For some reason....we
Americans just don't do it. We tend to eat TOO much EVERY day, eating
bread AND pasta AND dessert AND potatoes AND meat.....
often, at the same meal.
Of course you are right---pasta alone is not the single evil monster
that makes us fat. IF we could/would eat a small portion,we wouldn't
have gotten fat in the first place!
But, for whatever reason, many of us are addicted to carbs----and, like
an addiction to alcohol or cocaine, there is no such thing as a "small
portion" for us.
Do you want know...*WHY*? :-)
"Stress can cause chemical imbalances.
Cortisol, a stress hormone that is produced in the adrenal glands when you
are under pressure, triggers production of NPY, which causes carb cravings.
Eating the carb will lead to an increased production of serotonin, which has
a sedating effect on many people. So, in a sense, eating carbs will have a
medicating effect." Maybe it's this why...you have problem to stop eating
carb.

Doesn't matter who writes the article... all of them agree about "carb
increases the production of serotonin"! in few words *serotonin give
pleasure*. Serotonin is what controll you mood...

food quickly into our mouths as if any moment, someone will take it
away. WHY?
:-/ I'd like to know it. :-)
