Hi, New Girl here.

"We have more people on meds and that have mental issues than any time in history."

Hey, hey! There's no need to drag alien into this!

Kittel sprinted to the win...on to the Tour of Bomb...er...Basque county.

I think they should be happier - many people seem to lack an appreciation of what they have, IMHO. As far as the mental health aspect, well, I think there are various reasons for the statistics, availability/access is one. The cynical side of me says "because some if the drugs they push are extremely profitable". True happiness doesn't come from a pill, IMHO, it comes from living a good, honest, moral life, if that makes sense.

I also believe we have way too much sensory input these days tv, internet etc. To be honest technology has advanced but as creatures we still have primitive tendencies and a lot of evolving to be done.
We want to control our environment but to be real we can't even control our body functions as we grow older.

Er...based upon your condition...I've calling my broker and putting in an order for 100 shares of Kimberly-Clark/Depends!

Driving in a tourist area you tend to not make fun of adult diapers since I have from time to time think I needed one on.

Oh yeah...about your traffic...

I would think commuting on roller blades would be ideal for your locale. Passing all the frozen-in-place vehicles would be fun. Keep a suit at the office and one at the courthouse...

We can't control every aspect of our health, but there are many things we can do to help even the odds in our favor. There is an elderly man at my gym who is 96, and is on the stationary bike and treadmill every weekday morning at 5 am. Things like that. I dare say any regular on this forum probably gets far more exercise than the average sedentary sloth, umm, make that average sedentary American.

Too much sensory input? Perish the thought. I would elaborate, but I'm posting here, texting with my friend in Berlin, burning a couple of cd's for someone, and printing out a client's paper filing copy. Too much??? ;-)

I intend to go to a gym and sit on a stationary bike when I get older. Mostly to watch the young babes lifting and stretching. I have it all planned out.

Well, stay in shape, and you will be the assisted living home Romeo. Hell, it 's something like 4 women to every man in those places, you pretty much just have to be alive and you 're a catch to the old ladies.

There are more people than any other time in history. Also more meds, more recognized illnesses, and more people who can read.

You bet I do.

Quote Wikipedia - Hot Dog #Health Effects: Because an unopened, packaged hot dog can have Listeria bacteria that cause listeriosis, it is safer to heat them A study in the US found that 17% of food-related asphyxiations among children younger than 10 years of age were caused by hot dogs [source]. Hot dogs are high in fat and salt and have preservatives sodium nitrate and nitrite, which are possible contributors to nitrate-containing chemicals believed to cause cancer.

Quote Harvard - Red Meat Raises Red Flags: One daily serving of unprocessed red meat (about the size of a deck of cards) was associated with a 13 percent increased risk of mortality, and one daily serving of processed red meat (one hot dog or two slices of bacon) was associated with a 20 percent increased risk. These analyses took into account chronic disease risk factors such as age, body mass index, physical activity, and family history of heart disease or major cancers.
