Another weather rant - It's brutal here and it is interfering with my riding.

-1° this morning! A high of 14° today and 0° for tomorrow morning.

On the plus side, the Amish buggies are going through the ice-crusted snow pretty well.

I just looked at next weeks cycling weather forecast...not good. It starts out with more single digit and teens for temperatures.

Dude...when a group of nurses come out on the slopes it's a free fire zone. Select targets of opportunity and put steel on target! Horse chicks on skis are just as wild and crazoid. Hang on tight until you hear the buzzer.

We're supposed to see a dramatic increase in temperatures here. For several weeks, our highs have been hovering around 15 F. This week's highs have been around 30 F, and next week's highs are supposed to be around 45 F. WTF!! That's 30 degrees F in two weeks!

And in half that time, the temperatures will plummet back to where they were. We had one week of spring, and now it's over.

Spring, come back! I need you!

Well, we got above freezing yesterday, into the low 40s with sun, in fact. Today, snow and freezing rain, followed by heavy rain and thunderstorms tonight, then the real fun - high wind warnings, up to 60 mph. So, a lot of power outages.

Meanwhile, my friend in Berlin tells me it's like spring over there now, most days in the upper 40s to low 50s.

We got just about the same today.

Freezing overnight, black ice everywhere this morning. Heavy rain and thunder later in the morning and early afternoon. More rain tonight and we'll get the same wind with gusts to 50 MPH.

We have some local flooding. Cross your fingers...the standby generator has not kicked on all winter other than for self-testing/diagnostics.

As I said earlier, it could hit 70° tomorrow and it would take a week of that with sunshine and a mild breeze before the roads are dry off from all the piled up snow that's melting!

I put in a double session on the rollers and trainer today. Double boring.

Yeah, looks like a line of nasty storms is going to go through Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio and south tonight. Followed by another polar outbreak. Hope your area comes through ok. I should be doing time on the spin bikes at the gym as part of my Tri program - but I agree, boring. I guess I could bring my iPad and Bluetooth and start back in watching Dexter on Netflix - frankly, a 12.5 mile ride is nothing, I am spending most of my training time in the pool - that is going to be the hardest part of this for me by far.

I skied yesterday in the morning and took a nice windy bike ride in the evening. If I could have gone back a few year also and taken Elizabeth Hurley to the prom it would been an almost perfect day.

A few years? She's forty-eight...

SHE'S FORTY-EIGHT???

To me it is a few years. It is all relative. Besides she is still hot.

Good for you, JH! I'm glad somebody got a ride in. I'm going to try this afternoon. We do have some localized flooding to deal with...nothing too serious. A few ice jams and water a foot or two deep over the roads that run through the low areas.

It's been raining here for the past 7 weeks.

Ireland and Britain has been battered by torrential rain and storm force wind leading to widespread flooding.

Britain http://metro.co.uk/2014/02/21/gallery-comparison-pictures-visualising-the-extent-of-uk-floods-along-the-river-thames-and-somerset-levels-4312626/

In my country we're used to our fair share of rain but 2014 thus far has been the worst rain/wind in living memory.

Still it would be far worse be in sub-Sahara Africa praying for one drop of rain.

Being the curmudgeon that I am, I still manage to get out for the 2-3 hour spin every second or third day, despite the weather.

Great weather today and I about to head out for a short ride those that can, ride, those that can't eat your heart out.

Massive amounts of runoff moving across the roads. Standing water from 1" to 6" deep in a lot of areas. There are still patches of slush and ice on the shaded back roads. Between the frozen ground and still melting snow the flooded areas are...staying flooded a bit longer.

Even more to the craptastic side of life, after hitting 48° with sunshine today the weather goons are calling for freezing rain and 1" to 3" of snow tonight with another 1" tomorrow morning! Great!

Lim, I don't know how you do it...riding 2 to 3 hours in the rain makes my rollers and fluid trainer something to look forward to by comparison. I'll ride in a whiteout if the roads are passable, but I hate riding in a cold rain.
