Stage 19 - Saturday, July 28: Cognac - Angoulême, 55.5km

I am fully aware that Disco riders are probably the worst dopers, but there are a bunch of ****ing hypocrites here rooting for Cadel Evans..........strangely the only other rider in the race who can keep up with the top two. Evans is a slimy, wheelsucking, whiny doping piece of ****. The hypocrisy of many of you whose evidence of doping is the performance of one individual compared to a known doper is incredible. Yea, Evans is the first non-doper in the top 10. What a ****ing joke.

Let's see who wins UCI vs ASO.

ASO have already won... Patrice Clerec was talking on EuroSport today and said again that next years race will be conducted without the UCI..... they will invite the teams and lay the law on the admission in terms of what drugs parameters each team has to submit..... ie each riders has to declare their doctor and blood tests.

Harmon interviewed McQuaid on ES :

Have to say McQuaid wasn't convincing.
As ever he tried to lay blame with everyone but the UCI.
The Danes were to blame over Ras.
The ASO were to blame because they want to break from the UCI.
The UCI will not attend the WADA inspired general meeting..**** Pound hates cycling.

The UCI's the honest broker .......the UCI's got the welfare of cycling in mind at all times.

Harmon in fairness pressed McQuaid.
Pat can't see the mess.

Contador has a great career ahead of him... With Contador winning we may see a ushering in of younger riders who may not consider doping just a thing you do. This win may signal a change.
however, youre argument is based on the premise that contador is clean. and as we have seen, where there is smoke there is fire. alpuerto's connections to doping cannot be glossed over. he was directly implicated and no matter how many try to deny it, it cannot be ignored

Its good that the ASO has finally found religion. God knows there wasn't any doping going on prior to 1986.

I hope that the new rules focus on some of the chicanery at the French Teams (Festina, Cofidis x 2, etc.). Best to clean up your own backyard first .....

Vive Le Tour. Hopefully, next year we don't have to talk about doping first and racing second. Doped or not, these are fantastic athletes and its a beautiful sport. Tough to be a cyclist and a fan now though since everyone look at someone in full kit and a road bike thinks "doper" and then goes to guzzle a beer and cheer on the NFL/MLB/etc.

Was he still on holiday....? you'd think he'd be at the biggest race of the year..... he keeps saying that the UCI are taking a hardline on drugs... but like you say... he's the president of the UCI... you'd think he would know if Ras had missed tests...... he's a cluster fark.......

Yes, the UCI is to blame. However, I think **** Pound is a blowhard on a gravy train that is WADA (you should see these guys eating at the trough) and has no love for cycling.

Mind you, the WADA dopoing conference invitation to all involved (UCI, ASO, Riders, etc.) is a good idea if there is talk of an Amnesty and a fresh start.

The doping "war" can never be won if you have a system (management, doctors, and lastly riders, some forced, some eager) that sees it as par for the course.

He was in Dublin on Thursday evening because he turned up at the Federation meeting that I was at.

He was home on holiday for the last two weeks :

One of my collegues was saying that he (McQuaid) was saying that he had decided to stay away from the TDF because he didn't want to be subject to questioning around all of the scandals.
Looks like he went to France though - because he was spinning on ES about ASO, WADA etc.
Maybe Hein told him to get over there, pronto!

He was not directly implicated. You need to show me that. AC ties to OP are really not there. The official papers say as much. And his name was never conected to actual doping. Just his name on training schedules. Nothing more.

You need to show evidence that he was directly implicated, or else your posts contain nothing.

His name was on the schedules because of the team he was on. Using your reasoning, the biggest doper in the peloton was Klodi. He was on the 2 teams [TM & Astana ] that we know for a fact that doped.
Using your reasoning Klodi should never be allowed to race.

Do you honestly believe Prudie would allow a rider that was connected to OP [directly implicated] to start the TDF wearing Disco kits?

But I don't use that reasoning.

I believe he was on something. But the evidence does not remotely point to OP.

I also believe every rider since before I was born was juiced in one way or another. ...... I think this dope goes down to the bottom of the TDF peloton, depending on the role the individual played in the race.
Think about the domistiques who rode for the top guns...... They are the ones that placed the top riders in that slot.... They are the ones who need a extra edge too.......

But moving on, my point was now we have a younger rider that has won. The teams will see this as a chance to give younger riders a chance. And if the younger riders push their way, we will see a cleaner peloton.

The only solution to this mess is changing of the guard. And that ain't going to happen.

Levi just being interviewed on EuroSport....... said it was the race of his life and he could have gone faster ! Yeah right......... he looks so fresh........

Another desperate American.

How embittered you must be. Why the constant need to insult others?

Even counting it off it wasn't 3 second and it didn't mandate a split in time.

Similar to the difference between SC and Axel yesterday IMO. And that was a 1 second split.
There was a split, which meant two different times. All the riders of the first group get the time of the first rider across. The second group leader (Contidor) is timed according to his distance from the front person in the group ahead of him, not the last one (Cadel). That's what explains the 3 seconds.

LOL. Its 2am here and I am thinking about doing the same....I dont know why you guys dont support me when I post about 'taking the sport back'.

For those of you how thought what we just watched was 'entertaining' you are sad sad people.
Hi, honey. I just took off my apron long enough to watch LL beat Cadel in the TT, so go ahead and suck on that one too.

Of course it's so unfair that Clean Cadel can't have the yellow when he's separated from Doping Discos by a spread of 31 seconds.
Clean Cadel will just have to settle for second place. Maybe next year they will finally 'take the sport back', get rid of doping, and SuperCadel will be able to beat them all by 31 minutes instead of 31 seconds.

And if it's not 'entertaining', then why are you watching it?

Off to the kitchen for me, lads....

Another TT another "superb effort"... Just like Vino's.

And Contador beat Spain's national TT champion... Must be the so called "yellow jersey effect" so splendidly demonstrated by Rasmussen during the first TT... Never mind that was later suspended...
I 've said it again... More "miracles" happen in one TDF than in the whole of the Bible... :(

unfortunately this race isn't over... next stop... the court room.... LeMond better dust off his suit !
Now THAT was funny.

Huuurrrrah Levi. Huuurrah Alberto. Superb performances. And the best part is watching the Disco haters whine, cry, ***** and moan. I love your suffering. You set yourself up for it. You asked for it. You deserve it. Hey, WBT, where is that "Discovery in Disarray" tread?

"Waahhh, waahh, doping, waahhh, waahhh, doping, waahhh, waahhh, doping!"

ROFLMAO.

I have to agree... I'm very suprised Contador ended up 5th for this stage.

... great in the mountains... great in timetrials... who knows he might kick Tom Boonens ass in a sprint sometime soon.. a closet sprinter for all we know.
