Stage 19 - Saturday, July 28: Cognac - Angoulême, 55.5km

Close but no cigar! I thought Leipheimer would win the stage, Cadel would take second with enough time on Conti to take Yellow and it would be Cadel, Levi and Conti on the podium. Oh well, nice rides by Levi and Cadel today.

Huuurrrrah Levi. Huuurrah Alberto. Superb performances. And the best part is watching the Disco haters whine, cry, ***** and moan. I love your suffering. You set yourself up for it. You asked for it. You deserve it. Hey, WBT, where is that "Discovery in Disarray" tread?

"Waahhh, waahh, doping, waahhh, waahhh, doping, waahhh, waahhh, doping!"

ROFLMAO.
Well I am not a Disco hater and I am happy for Contador... I like "new kids on the block" as long as they pretend to be clean do what they can to keep up appearances and don't become total a...holes like a certain Mr Armstrong...
I just hope that you don't believe that Leipheimer's/Contador's ride was any "better" (cleaner) than Vino's the other day... ;)

Similarly, I hope you don't really believe Cadel's ride was any cleaner either.....just keeping the scale balanced.

I refuse to accept Contador as the winner of the race. In my eyes, he is just as guilty/not guilty as Rasmussen.

Rasmussen was the best man this year.

This info will be passed to Prudie. I'm sure he will jerk Contador out of the race tomorrow.

Just re-watched todays stage.

Have to say that Evans looked like a man who rode a hard stage : sweat pouring out of him.
Which is the way it should be - if you're riding hard in an ITT.

Leipheimers preformance?
It is astonishing that he finished nearly 2 minutes ahead of the field.
Astonishing.

I have the exact same feeling after watching this stage, as I did after witnessing Landis "miracle ride" last year.

I like Leipheimer.
I just didn't know he could time trial as well as that.

^^^that's because during his entire career until today, he couldn't. lance was prolly in the team car because he's proven that he can follow ferrari's instructions.

All 3 riders have got to thanking the goddess Serendipity right now.

Well, we will probably know 2 days after the podium celebrations. I'm hoping that all 3 guys (Cadel, Levi and Al) raced like they knew what they had to do to win GC and that's the only edge they had. Levi had to put it all out to gain time on both riders, Cadel was trying to beat Al by 1:58 and Al was racing to not let that happen.

To be honest, I would like to see them race tomorrow. I would put my money on Cadel. But that would be sacrilegious.

Have no worries, Phil Liggett has already proclaimed the top 3 to be clean

Prudhomme has already commented that he doesn't trust the UCI about Contador - even though they told him the boy wonder is 'clean'.

After all, what greater bargaining chip in the upcoming war between ASO and the UCI but the power to discredit the yellow jersey - UCI have the OP docs and they'll use them if it means they keep their hooks in the biggest cash cow in the calendar.

I'm delighted for Contador - from when I first heard about him when he won a stage in the Tour of Poland in 2003 when the Spanish press were buzzing excitedly about the 'New Indurain' I've kept an eye on him as something special. Just a shame he had to win it in Discovery colours - if ever there was a team that stuck a big 2 fingers up at the idea of a clean sport it's that great doping armada.

Guess what? He can't. No clean rider can go 53+ kph for 62 minutes.

Vino gas bus II?

Check the speed averages. They are drug spiked

Levi wins beating second place by 2 minutes. Hmm, does this remind anybody of a certain time trial by Vinokourov? Methinks somebody paid a visit to his doctor last night.

Today the commentators were congratulating him on his speed saying that Lemond did the same distance about 1km/hour faster. Is this true? He did it almost two decades ago and drugs were not as ubquitous, or at least not as strong, plus I am somewhat inclined to believe him about doping because he has, for no apparently personal gain, viciously attacked others for doping, so I think there really is a good chance he never did it.

Yes, Lemond's record is at 54 kmh + for the ITT. Clean! Of course, it was on a steel bike IIRC with those supernatural Scott aero bars. Twenty years of innovation in carbon, bike design, aero testing, and EPO/Blood doping, and they haven't managed to catch up to clean St. Greg!

Care to comment Dr. House?

Lemond's TT effort was very short.

And Serf has NO awareness of Lemond's miracle performances, steroids or EPO levels. Lance Pharmstrong claimed Lemods was on EPO in that 1989 ride.

No. Levi is a cheat and a fraud.

It was very short, downhill and with a tail wind. These things kind of help.

Great stage, great finish and classy podium. All three riders gave it their best and then some.

Chapeau to Alberto! May you win many more!

Hats off to Evans! May you win one.

You simply rocked, Levi! You deserve one as well.

Great Podium in Paris tomorrow. Hopefully this Tour signals a new start for a new generation of riders and a new type of cleaner racing.

Viva Le Tour! Viva Contador! and of course...Viva España!

Hell of a race.

As for The Haters, keep on keeping on. As in being glued to the tube watching and then coming here to *****. Although I do wonder if you don't have better things to do with your time. Not like I give a damn anyway...whatever floats your boat.

Apparently you have yet to read Le Monde this afternoon.

Discovery's Contador = Operation Puerto & Manolo Saiz stink bomb
