Discovery in disarray.... ?

No musette - a lot of members here have sussed you out.

Right, and we are seeing the demonstration of your impartial moderation skills in action I assume. ;)

Saluki -- That would be assuming a reasoned approach to determining whether we are different posters.

This months CycleSport magazine reports that Il Falco, “the Savo” is moving to Lampre next season. It appears he wasn’t happy with the on again off again support of Danielson and who was actually the team leader.

Savo will be joining Lampre next year to target both the Giro and the Tour. Lampre will allow Cuengo to have a full tilt at the Classics next year. They have realized that Basso has raised the bar in terms of how to win a GT and believe that the little prince needs another year or two to develop into a pure GT rider.

The article also reports that Landis is being courted by Discovery but can name his price because several other teams want him as well... although says he is weary about going back.

my input ? It really shows DC's shitty management skills that Salvodelli can win the Giro with no support and on his own and when DC claim to been assisting him he loses by 20 minutes ! Go figure !

That would be a sad development, Il Falco leaving DC. He was their only top top tier/"GT team leader"-type rider, :p although Popo had the chance to become one in several years.

On a happier note, a Chechu fan site explains that an Asturias newspaper claims Chechu has re-signed with DC for another 2 years (2007 and 2008). That brings Chechu to 35 years old in 2008 (i.e., retirement with DC).

A bit off topic but: Hoste comes to Davitamon and PVP will leave (the rumour is that he will join Quickstep)

I got my copy this morning - and you're correct Savoldelli's leaving DC.

He'll be much happier at Lampre - where he will get unequivocal support.

I am not surprised he's leaving given the ambiguity and the luke-warm endorsement as regards his team for the Giro.

Can't see Landis going back to DC - he got shafted by them when they refused to pay the going rate.

Are you kidding on Il Falco getting "unequivocal support" at Lampre -- don't you think that, if Cunego started doing well in the Giro 06, that the same Gibo/Cunego drama would unfold as occurred during the year Cunego won the Giro?

There's another incorrect statement. Bruyneel was willing to match Landis' salary offer from Phonak, but, after talking with Landis, decided that Landis would be happier at Phonak.

Landis walked 'cause Bruyneel wouldn't pay landis the going rate

the only real advantage to landis going back to DC would be gaining more support from the american community, though he seems to be doing fine without that and is still probably a little bitter about how the situation was handled in the past

at phonak he is the captain, there is no guarentee that if he returned to DC he would have that kind of leadership position promised to him

I think Landis is a good pro.
He works hard, he gets results and he's a respected guy.
OK some might say he's dull - but dull is fine in my book.

Does he strike you as the sort of guy who'd want acclaim in the US?

Again, you give me an opportunity to prove you wrong.

Bruyneel: "We had an option to keep him and we were ready to equal the offer made to Phonak, but at the same time we didn´t want him to force him to stay with us," Bruyneel was quoted.

You said the same thing about Hoste last week.

Landis and, more recently, Hoste left DC because DC wouldn't pay them the going rate.
I told you about Hoste leaving before you read about it.

not at all. thats why i think there is a slim chance he will be back. But the fact that DC is US based, could offer an incentive to some american riders, though i dont think landis is one of them.

Yeah, he doesn't strike me as the sort of guy who wants to be a household name.

I can't see Landis going back to DC - once bitten....

No, I didn't say the same thing about Hoste. You said Bruyneel was willing to match Hoste's offer from Davi and I said no, Bruyneel was not and gave you some back-up about how Bruyneel generally doesn't match offers (quoting from Bruyneel). Landis was an exception, and that's why, when Bruyneel listed the examples he listed when he said he was not offering to match Hoste (Leipheimer, Heras, Hamilton, Boonen), he excluded Landis.

You wanna go and look at the discussion?
