AUK magazine

I know there's been some joshing on here today about beards, tricycles,
mudguards and the general "Victor Meldrew" type AUK member .... BUT some of
the type sizes in the mag are challenging to say the least to those of us
chaps of rather more mature years ..... I shall be needing a magnifying
glass!

That said, a quick peruse at lunchtime indicates another splendid issue -
well done Sheila, again.

Copy edit a very long article, or just shrink the type and photos? I
must admit to not having ploughed through the longer articles yet. Just
flicked through, noticed Dave K's article and a few others.

It would be really good to see the CTC magazine taking a leaf out of
the AUK book and putting in more members reports (but with guidelines
as to length). Part of the trick in writing for an audience is to keep
it short. Then it will be read (without the aid of a magnifying glass.)
And an advantage of keeping it reasonably short is that people don't
get too tired of your less polished writing skills.

I presume you are the same David Martin who also gets in this month's
issue, yes?

The editorial says "accompanying AUK Handbook", should this have come
with the magazine this time ?

Apparently yes, but in practice no, it will come separately. According
to Francis Cooke:

"Before we get any more phone calls -
There's reference to the 'accompanying Handbook' in the editorial page
of your new Arrivee.
Due to an enforced late change of plan, the Handbook became a separate
mailing - so don't worry that its not in with your Arrivee. It should
turn up eventually."
