He must have decided to use his mirror as a weapon as it obviously
wasn't working as a mirror.

Sounds as though you have lots of witnesses so the borken bike should
be WVM's insurance company's problem. Get well soon.

Everyone seems to be very sympathetic - I bet you won't get any of that
from the kids when you get back to school. Anyway it is good it wasn't

But perhaps one Tom can use with politicians he meets - if that can
happen to a high profile cycling instructor it really points up the need
to do something about educating drivers and perhaps providing more
disincentives for lack of care and attention.

Speedy recovery Tom. Last Time I crashed I looked at my grazed leg and gave
thanks that it wasn't my new Ultegra groupset ;-) Healing skin costs nowt,
save for a bit of Savlon.

I had the same questionning by the nurses when I was in A&E, although I was
wearing a helmet. They said how sensible I had been and how much worse it
would have been if I hadn't been wearing one. I didn't comment as she might
'forget' to put the anaesthetic on me as she was cleaning up the holes in
knees.

There was indeed. However, you can't just assume[1] that in any given
incident a particular WVM would have been driving closer had you had a
lid on.

it out of curiosity. Didn't he also don a mini skirt and blonde wig and
found drivers gave him *much* more room?

No idea, but I guess both could be true.

Subjectively it seems that people give me a lot more room when I'm in
a suit and tie, compared with either full lycra or jeans and
T-shirt.

Towing the trailer also seems to guarantee being left loads of
space. I guess it's a "we don't mind running over that cyclist, but we
couldn't possibly hurt his children" type thing. :/
