  1. Hey girls and boys,

I bought a scooter on the weekend. It's badass. It does 75km/h.

Tam, Abby - up for some sprint training around UQ next week?

Am tempted to ride it along the Coro Drive bike path, but that might not be appropriate. At least I'd be able to chase ass face cyclists who annoy me.

    LotteBum

P.S. It's a Bug Pronto and it's Candy Red (although I'm more inclined to call it [censored] Red).

    Hey lotte!

    Post pics &/or specs.

A friend is looking for longer range transport.

Pic and specs are located at scootopia.com.aushowroom.php which is the shop I bought it from.

A friend is looking for longer range transport.

I'll be travelling to work (26km each way, but off freeways it's 35km) on this one a couple of days per week (on days I don't ride). The only downside is that servicing is every 2,500km (quite often even for a scooter), but after a year, when the warranty is up I'll get Paulie to do them for me every second time and take it to the shop every other time.

    It's pretty spanky, isn't it?

    Cool! 🙂

Glad to see that most brands also offer 4 stroke models now.

They're pretty slow. Honda do a gorgeous retro looking thing, but they reckon it's really gutless. Apparently the two stroke engines are easier to maintain/rebuild as well. The mechanic at the place where we got this one reckons we should get 40,000km out of it before it needs a rebuild. He's biased, but I'd be happy with 20,000km.

    No fair... I want one.

Jealous of your state for once :-) I noticed on the scootopia FAQ's that you can get away with just a car licence for 50cc... Wish Vic had followed that - I'm just too lazy to go get a motorbike licence!

They're cheap as chips! My neighbour has one which he bought second hand for $800, fixed it up for $500 and he's away!

You can get a scooter licence which is basically an automatic motorbike licence. Give it a shot!

I think you mean 'A "friend" want to know for... "research"'

Offtopic and being silly because I should be writing a paper that my
supervisor want to publish by Wedneysday.

'orrible buzzing things!! But I want one😄

Couple of guys in Perth are importing and flogging scooters from China. They look Italian like all good scooters should and the 50cc retro model is only about $2,000.

    vmoto.commilan

Now, if someone in China could just make a Ducati look alike for $2050.....

  14. I want one scoot. The gilera runner sp 180.
It does 0-100 in 5.2 seconds I think. Looks
like a 50 scoot. That would a riot to ride. 🙂
Oh, and provide some surprised faces in your daily commute. 🙂
Hmm, could be good to mess with the local commodore driving
knackers, but they'll probably run you over. 🙂

Kymco which is a Honda parts manufacturer. We looked at the Bolwell Scoota Jive which was *really* funky, but not as fast. It was a tad more expensive, but parts were dirt cheap.

And the sad news.. You are now a motorcyclist.

    No. I'm a scooterist.

Yepp, you are right, no self respecting motorcyclist would call a scooter a motorcycle. 🙂

Aiiii that's enough from you thanks! You're just sore that all I need is a small 50cc engine under my botbot - not a 1000cc throbbing weapon throbbing between my legs. Right, let's not go there.

Actually, the reason I'm not a motorcyclist is because I don't have a pair of jeans from 1992, nor do I have a pair of sneakers funky enough. And although my hair is short and man-like, it's not quite a flat top.

    LotteBum

P.S. Claes, if you really want me to take you for a ride on my scooter, just say so.

he he I have neither of the described attributes above. I am just a two wheel [censored]. I love motorbikes, not too average though, I like some scoots too, and some cycles. 🙂

But you should really go 4stroke, that sound from 2stroke drives me bonkers. You have to rev the [censored] off them too. I guess on a scoot with no gears, it works, but I find it annoying. I think 2strokes are environmental disasters too. So, go 4stroke, although it gets a bit more expensive, I feel it is worth it.

Nah I dont agree. Silly motorcyclist yeah. Having carefully kept all
the disadvantages of a pushy and added to them all the disadvantages of
a motorcycle. But motorcyclists they are. They even deserve ¨The Nod¨
