I'll be travelling to work (26km each way, but off freeways it's 35km) on this one a couple of days per week (on days I don't ride). The only downside is that servicing is every 2,500km (quite often even for a scooter), but after a year, when the warranty is up I'll get Paulie to do them for me every second time and take it to the shop every other time.

It's pretty spanky, isn't it?

They're pretty slow. Honda do a gorgeous retro looking thing, but they reckon it's really gutless. Apparently the two stroke engines are easier to maintain/rebuild as well. The mechanic at the place where we got this one reckons we should get 40,000km out of it before it needs a rebuild. He's biased, but I'd be happy with 20,000km.

Jealous of your state for once :-) I noticed on the scootopia FAQ's that you can get away with just a car licence for 50cc... Wish Vic had followed that - I'm just too lazy to go get a motorbike licence!

You can get a scooter licence which is basically an automatic motorbike licence. Give it a shot!

Couple of guys in Perth are importing and flogging scooters from China. They look Italian like all good scooters should and the 50cc retro model is only about $2,000.

It does 0-100 in 5.2 seconds I think. Looks
like a 50 scoot. That would a riot to ride. 🙂

Kymco which is a Honda parts manufacturer. We looked at the Bolwell Scoota Jive which was *really* funky, but not as fast. It was a tad more expensive, but parts were dirt cheap.

Actually, the reason I'm not a motorcyclist is because I don't have a pair of jeans from 1992, nor do I have a pair of sneakers funky enough. And although my hair is short and man-like, it's not quite a flat top.

he he I have neither of the described attributes above. I am just a two wheel [censored]. I love motorbikes, not too average though, I like some scoots too, and some cycles. 🙂

But you should really go 4stroke, that sound from 2stroke drives me bonkers. You have to rev the [censored] off them too. I guess on a scoot with no gears, it works, but I find it annoying. I think 2strokes are environmental disasters too. So, go 4stroke, although it gets a bit more expensive, I feel it is worth it.
