Quote of the day (from non-riders)

Well, I get a lot of remarks, i dont know why, but most come from the so
called "skaters" in my school. Or just smaller children and their
parents.

(from Josh (dumbest boarder i know)) - "Graham, your gay..." my
response - "why? because im badass and your a dumbass?" lol, srry bout
language

(from parent) - "look at that man on the silly bike!"
(kid) - "ooooooo" my response - "*quietly melt their faces in your
mind*"

(older people) - "you lost a wheel" (dont mind that one as much)

(most kids in my class) - "leme try! *then they smash their leg on my
spiked pedal* oooow!" as i just sit and laugh.

(random people) - "holy #@%&!!!"

Everyone hates clowns

Ive gone about the whole summer without unicycling, I procrastenated on
sending some cranks back

When I bent my first set of crankarms, I thought it was bad thing; when
i jumped off of a picnic table, well, my photo says it. thats about a
20-30 degree bend.

I got two common and classic lines today while riding the N36, I'll
start with the child since the situation relates to what you said here.
A mom and small girl saw me and before the mom could say anything the
daughter yelled out "HE'S COOL!"

(and the girl is correct):D

I think she might have surprised her mom with that remark, and I wish I
could have seen into the mom's mind to know what she was going to say.

But just moments before this encounter a guy around 50ish, sitting in
his pickup truck, yelled out (the truly and universally funny remark
about the lost wheel). I forgave him because the look on his face and
the salute he gave me with one hand indicated that he thought I was
cool too.

An eventful ride home today.

First motorist: Did you lose a wheel.
Me: No, but that almost joke is about to make me lose my lunch.

Second motorist: You need one of those that will let you coast
downhill.
Me: I would lose control.
Second motorist: If you want control, get a second wheel.

Little girl: Hey, you're really good on that.
Me: Hey, thank you.

Third motorist: Good job riding that curb. I wish I had that on video.
Me: Why, thank you.

The comments kept improving. Next you'll get a "you're my hero",
followed by proposals, indecent and otherwise.

I got that today. A group of about 10 girls outside of a Starbuck's at
Greenlake Park. They cat-called me and one said, "I want to have your
baby." It was humiliating and embarrassing. I went around the block to
pass by again.

I got, "Thanks for the inspiration" last weekend. Cool.

That from a father who had earlier stopped me to find out about
unicycling because his son wanted to learn.

The longer story is, I had just received a T-shirt for the 'bike for
cancer' charity ride, but the shirt was much too small for me. When a
father brought his son over to check out my Nimbus 36, I surprised them
both when I gave the shirt to his son. The kid really liked the shirt,
but more importantly, was actually interested in riding a unicycle. I
gave them some info about unicycles. I think they will both be riding
next summer.

I was sitting at lunch with my uni a few days ago and a kid came up to
me looking genuinely intrested in unicycling, and asked "how long does
that take to learn?" I said "it depends on how often you practice and
if you stick with it or not." the kid replied "so like a year or 6
months or something?" I smiled at the fact that he thought it was
really that hard and that he seemed to repsect the 'skill' some stuff
takes. I replied "no, if you practice everyday for about 30 minutes a
day, you could learn to ride in a few weeks. I'm starting a unicycle
club this year I'll have a table at the club fair if you want to join."
he smiled and replied "Sure, I'll look for your table."

I love when this kind of stuff happens...

Whilst riding home through central London last night, I pulled up at
some lights with a few other cyclists, and a guy on a big motorbike
came alongside. He raised his visor and said "Are you allowed to ride
in cycle lanes on that thing?"
"Yeah, of course." I said, a little surprised.
"So, by that logic, so am I. Uni*cycle*" he gestured to my transport,
then to his "motor*cycle*"
i didn't have time for a retort before the lights changed and we were
off, but I thought about it all the way home, and still couldn't think
of a one line reply.

From a passing car (with no time for the passenger saying it to hear a
response): "Hey, you ever eaten sh*t on that thing?"

That was a new one for me. I had no response at the ready. I think I
got hung up with the definition of "eating sh*t," like if it had to be
like Biff in the Back to the Future movies, or just a really good
crash, or what?

So now, after much thought, I came up with the short answer:
"Yah!"

Not very inspiring.
