home to David Duke) had $24 a bottle Gavi di Gavi mis-priced at $3.99 for
over a year. Several of us must have bought five or so cases each during
that time. Is Whole Foods in your area?

And you don't find TJ's overpriced? We had one open here early this year and
were excited until we got a serious case of sticker shock. We do have a Whole

That's interesting. I find the TJs out here to be pretty inexpensive -
certainly more so than Whole Foods. I'd never buy fruit, vegetables or meat
at TJ (mostly due to being a local at a grocery store that's 15 miles from
home (HA!) where I've gotten to know people in the four departments that
count: deli, bakery, meat and vegetable - I think I end up getting better
merchandise and service because of that). But there are some things at TJ
that you can't beat the price on, like olive oils, vinegars or wine (which
I do more cooking with than drinking).

Well, you could write them and sort of start to pressurize them to look
into opening one in your area. Get a few others to do the same, and you
might be surprised.

I found that I ended up going to several places to get the stuff I want:
TJ, Whole Food, the local farmer's markets, a local grocery and sometimes a
butcher. It's a little bit time consuming, but I like the results. I don't
think the fruit and vegetables at the farmer's markets is always as
cosmetically pure as what you see at some big chain stores, but it seems to
be fresher and tastes great.

That is one of the cool things about TJ's is the selection of stuff you
can't get anywhere else easily. Like you we have a great local butcher that
most people don't even know about as he's hidden in a small town. It makes it
real easy to hit the farmstands of people I know, then swing by there and check
out what he has. We also have a long running family sausage co. that I have to
avoid except for holidays or I'd end up being in that other thread.
