You mean those expensive placebos that [censored] masters [censored] buy? Yeah,
I've heard of them.
You were, of course, referring to someone besides me?
Actually, my coach has a difficult time getting me to remember to use that
stuff, and an even more difficult time getting me to drink Endurox and such
after races.
But E-caps aren't placebos, they are an easy, convenient way to get your
sodium and other electrolytes to replace what you lose in sweat, and help
stave off cramping and dehydration. They won't do much for a 40 minute
crit, but can make you have a much better day in a long, hot road race.

There is no "energy" in the ELETE alone, because there are no calories in
it. I hope you are eating during your rides, since you sure aren't drinking
any carbs.
Yeah, I was just about to ask that question. I frequently pop a couple
vitamin E and C 's during longer events. Heh, must be some sore losers out
there.

I doubt that local guys are doing EPO or HGH, but ephedrine, guifeisen

Sounds like a wonder drug.

They're no more dangerous than orange juice.

And what exactly do you expect them to do for you?
What Brian saw was a guy gobble pills and then, after giving them a little time
to be absorbed, attack successfully. If you snarf mid-race vitamins and then
finish in the pack I doubt anyone suspects anything.

How the hell do you know what someone is scarfing down?
Not a bad idea. Do it in public, no hesitation, offer some around and you're
probably covered until you get tested.
Hide it in plain sight works a lot more than we'd think.
Hey Bill, what "drugs" come as pills? Next we'll have trdina telling
us that it was EPO and HGH in those pills.

lemme get this straight, e-caps are performance enhancing, but rHGH
isn't. The implementation by the UCI and the IOC of a test for
recombinant HGH in endurance sports is mere political posturing, and
will only catch wannabe losers that have been duped into shelling out
thousands of dollars for a placebo effect.

competitor pull out a plastic bag half way through the a 70 mile RR, take 2
dubious-looking capsules, then attack a lap later to make a break. Anyone
who races has seen stuff like that go on (especially in the parking lot of
any crit that has more than $1500 in prize money)I've decided that I'd be willing to spend an extra $5 to 10 on entry fees if
it meant that drug testing would be performed at the race.
Can you give us an example, or two, of something illegal that the
rider in question may have taken that would account for his ability to
make a break a few minutes later (in other words, work RIGHT NOW) that
wouldn't possibly kill him if ingested under race conditions?
About the only thing I can think of that's 1- illegal, and 2- quick
acting enough to help would be amphetimines. You'd have to be a class
A dumbass to ingest speed during a race and NOT expect some
significant potentially fatal side-effects.
Do you really think the rider took speed during a race?

Eat a good dinner night before. Eat a banana and a bowl of this
killer museli from Trader Joe's, with figs 'n rasins 'n other good
stuff for breakfast. Take Clif bar along if I should need it. Mostly
I need water, but now and then need some extra energy before long
climbs, etc. Sometimes keep a Gu in reserve.

FWIW, I think so. I have seen and heard of the exact same thing as Brian
described--pop pills then attack shortly thereafter--and I know for a fact
riders have taken what used to be called Beans or Bennies before crits. I
will even confess to doing it experimentally in training when I was a
junior. At the time, speed use was rampant in high-school sports where I
lived. I also think diet pills are abused in the winter by guys that want to
get as lean as you need to be to race at the top levels.

Push the medical textbook to the side. It's interfering with you're

So is a bag of chips and a bottle of water. No amount of supplementation can
replace real food.

Unfortunately, those of us in the middle of the country mostly have to do
without Trader Joe's, unless, of course, you're willing to do the shipping
for us.
My pantry could really use a re-stock of India Relish and Italian Caponata
right now.

E takes a while to kick in too. He was probably jut going clubbing
after the race and was in a hurry to get home, hence the attack.
