That's because you have to actually race LONG and HARD enough to lose
electrolytes. If you actually rode your bike occasionally, especially
where it's particularly hot and humid enough, and maybe rode longer
than a couple hours - no, RACED longer than a couple hours, you might
get a performance enhancing benefit from e-caps.

I'm getting pretty sick of Kenny/Ronde and the rest of you idiots

that is any good is on dope. And it's not "[censored] masters [censored]"

Warning DO NOT [censored] the rbr women. It could be incredibly dangerous to
your ego to say nothing of the dangers of being castrated, psychically or even
    possibly physically.
    Good luck guys
At least I know who to be afraid of around here ;-)

You mean those expensive placebos that [censored] masters [censored] buy? Yeah,
    I've heard of them.

I was a [censored] once and took E-caps for a season -- didn't do anything for
me that an extra 5-6 hours week would.

Listen up Ms. Anonymous -- self-deprecating, self-flagellating humor

In yet another example of dubious cycling behavior, I watched a fellow
competitor pull out a plastic bag half way through the a 70 mile RR, take 2
dubious-looking capsules, then attack a lap later to make a break. Anyone
who races has seen stuff like that go on (especially in the parking lot of
any crit that has more than $1500 in prize money)

I've decided that I'd be willing to spend an extra $5 to 10 on entry fees if
it meant that drug testing would be performed at the race.

Can you give us an example, or two, of something illegal that the
rider in question may have taken that would account for his ability to
make a break a few minutes later (in other words, work RIGHT NOW) that
wouldn't possibly kill him if ingested under race conditions?

About the only thing I can think of that's 1- illegal, and 2- quick
acting enough to help would be amphetimines. You'd have to be a class
A dumbass to ingest speed during a race and NOT expect some
    significant potentially fatal side-effects.

Do you really think the rider took speed during a race?

There are people who take speed in the gym. People are dopey. It's
possible someone would do it in a race.

E takes a while to kick in too. He was probably jut going clubbing
after the race and was in a hurry to get home, hence the attack.

I used e-caps for awhile and still do. The original ones seemed to take a
week of using before you could notice a difference and then you could just
tell that you seemed to have a little more endurance and you seemed to
recover during a ride just by pedaling a little lighter for awhile. I don't
know if it was psycholigical or not but it DID seem like it does something.

The E-cap people recommend that you take the stuff out on the road as well
as before and after a race. Friends that use it like that tell me that they
can notice a difference. Perhaps a vitamin load helps to metabolize body fat
slightly more efficiently? I couldn't say any more about it than I had.

But E-caps are easy to recognize because they are yellowish yeast-looking
stuff inside of fairly large clear capsules. Most amphetamines are in pill
form, small and colored different colors.

Wow, that's a huge benefit. I should try them I guess.

I'm surprised that you don't use the stuff considering your age and ability.
It seems to work better for people over 30 than under.

lemme get this straight, e-caps are performance enhancing, but rHGH
isn't. The implementation by the UCI and the IOC of a test for
recombinant HGH in endurance sports is mere political posturing, and
will only catch wannabe losers that have been duped into shelling out
thousands of dollars for a placebo effect.

Maybe you ought to remember that they used to smoke cigarettes before a
climb to "open the lungs" or recover with a bottle of wine between stages.

HGH hasn't been shown to be of any benefit to endurance athletes but that
doesn't mean that it isn't being abused and isn't dangerous to those racers
who are abusing it in the misbelief that it gives them some sort of boost.

What are the chances of a local crit monkey getting tested? I seem to remember
seeing something a while ago saying that doping was huge in amatuer/citizen
events in Italy. Wouldn't be any surprise to find out that a large number of
our hyper-competitive Masters with $7000 bikes attached to $40,000 SUVs that
throw a [censored] over whether they were 21, or 23 in the pack sprint were taking
    anything they could get.

I know one stomping regional master who used to use ephedra in key

Personally I wouldn't worry about it in local races. You can look at a guy
on speed and tell it. They have the eyes and the nerves. If someone like
that is winning just let the word get around and if he doesn't have an
accident make sure he gets tested in the Regoinals or the Nationals.

What sort of one cell life form would dope in a Cat 4 race?

But I do know the type you're talking about. Wouldn't it be funny to have
the guy picked up on an illegal drug charge just as he was getting ready for
a race and you knew he had the stuff on him?

Yep, I do this too sometimes- on winter training rides when I'm sick of my
accelerade, want to suffer a little, and don't care about my performance.
But if you're doing long road races without taking in any carbs, your
    performance is suffering.

Not a bad idea. Do it in public, no hesitation, offer some around and you're

Hide it in plain sight works a lot more than we'd think.

Or psychological warfare. All your competitors will think you're on some
