  1. Many posters here claim that Jan tells "lies", and google
offers hundreds if not thousands of references offered as
proofs of her deceptions and falsehoods. Well, folks, I'm
here to tell you that she is not nearly the liar, cheat,
deceiver that you think she is, and this explanation applies
equally to many here - I use Jan as an example because...
because... well, she's just such a perfect example.

To be a "lie", the liar must know at the moment of utterance
that the statement is false. However, history has shown us
that when a liar repeats a falsehood enough times, it
becomes indistinguishable from truth - to that liar.
Eventually it becomes more of an error than a lie, and is
honestly offered to inform rather than to deceive or
mislead. Though factually wrong, and with its origins in
deception, it evolves into a passionate statement of [truth
as I know it!]. So what would you call that statement? It's
no longer a lie... but an error, an honest mistake.

I don't wish to exalt the liars here by comparing them to
famous prevaricators of history, but history teaches us that
many of them began with self-serving lies, then eventually
perfected and adopted their falsehoods as [truth as I know
it!]. During that process, their statements became sincere,
their arguments took on the self-righteous fervor of the
absolutely correct, their rebuttals were perfected.... and
their constituencies voted for them. I suppose one example
will help make this point. There was a moment somewhere
between 1923 and 1945 when Corporal Adolf [censored] began
believing his own rhetoric, and from that time on he was
perhaps the most persuasive and convincing sociopath alive.

So, based on the above, here's an interesting question: what
percentage of intelligent and educated (naturopaths,
homeopaths, chiropractors, iridologists, yada yada) actually
*believes* the diagnostic and therapeutic claptrap on which
    such quacks' incomes depend?

By the way, in a previous post I said I'd revert to
sabbatical, but returned a few days later - and then Jan
accused me of lying. The word derives from 'sabbath', which
is a single day - though in usage applies to a year of
rest. Well, my 'sabbaticals' are sometimes long, often
short. In fact, I invented the nanosabbatical, defined as
the minimum rest period between an observer's responses to
the more egregious idiocies posted by the silliest of the
    residents here.

This is exactly why I rarely make the charge of lying, and
then only in the most egregious or repeated cases. However,
in the case of GlowLife Dave, I made an exception. He
recently misrepresented post of mine about why cataract
surgery is done on one eye at a time and why that is not an
analogous situation to having wisdom teeth "cavitations" on
two sides done at the same procedure to claim that I had
actually advocated doing cataract surgery on both eyes at
the same time when a reading of my post made it very clear I
did not. There are only two explanations. He either
intentionally misrepresented what I said, or he is too
stupid to understand what I said. Take your pick. (I don't
think he is too stupid to understand what I said.)

Your m.h.a. experience isn't complete without Jan calling
you a liar at least once. (It'd be like going to Disneyland

I've read it and I've read more modern books on it. Its pure

Show us a replicated, controlled, peer-reviewed study which
show that homeopathy is efficacious. Homeopathy was
Hahnemann's way of acting-out against "the system". It is

John, here is what I just received:

Disharmonies" is not defined in 457 or 64B1 which is the Acupuncture statute
and rules. He must have found a definition in a statute that I am unfamiliar
with. If you would like to file a complaint, you may contact our complaint

    Quoted message said:

claptrap on which such quacks' incomes depend?

A most interesting question. I have often pondered it. The
problem is that it is not just quacks who can become misled
by by the crazy quilt of influences that can determine
perceived outcomes within day-to-day medical practice
(spontaneous events, answers of politeness, patient
subordination, true placebo effects, reversion to the mean,
    observer biases etc ).

These are powerful enough to impress sincere and eminent
doctors. Three examples of this: glomectomy for asthma,
gastric freezing for duodenal ulcer and internal mammary
artery ligation for angina. These and many other
experimental mainstream procdures were claimed to have 80-90
per cent success rates by enthusiatic pioneers, whereas
subsequent controlled trials showed that sham procedures
performed just as well. It took no less than eleven
controlled trials using sham procedures to dispose of all
the hype surrounding glomectomy. Chelation is I am sure a
similar case, where the promoters are convinced they are
seeing dramatic results, largely because of the erratic
behaviour and placebo responsiveness of the things they are
treating. The ability to overlook or find excuses for
failures, as in the recent Kadile chelation case, helps. .

So I am inclined to give most alt. practitioners the benefit
of the doubt. "Therapeutic illusions" are prevalent and
powerful. I am sure you are right that other factors can be
involved such as habituation. A tentative belief can become
entrenched if you are motivated to emphasise all supportive
evidence and blind yourself anything that opposes.

The real liars/frauds are probably more strongly represented
within MLM schemes and spammers. There are some alt cancer
therapists who I think are quite deluded rather than liars.

statements became sincere, their arguments took on the
self-righteous fervor of the absolutely correct, their
rebuttals were perfected.... and their constituencies
voted for them. I suppose one example will help make this

    therapeutic

    Quoted message said:

claptrap on which such quacks' incomes depend?

A most interesting question. I have often pondered it. The
problem is that it is not just quacks who can become misled
by by the crazy quilt of influences that can determine
perceived outcomes within day-to-day medical practice
(spontaneous events, answers of politeness, patient
subordination, true placebo effects, reversion to the mean,
    observer biases etc ).

These are powerful enough to impress sincere and eminent
doctors. Three examples of this: glomectomy for asthma,
gastric freezing for duodenal ulcer and internal mammary
artery ligation for angina. These and many other
experimental mainstream procdures were claimed to have 80-
90 per cent success rates by enthusiatic pioneers, whereas
subsequent controlled trials showed that sham procedures
performed just as well. It took no less than eleven
controlled trials using sham procedures to dispose of all
the hype surrounding glomectomy. Chelation is I am sure a
similar case, where the promoters are convinced they are
seeing dramatic results, largely because of the erratic
behaviour and placebo responsiveness of the things they are
treating. The ability to overlook or find excuses for
failures, as in the recent Kadile chelation case, helps. .

So I am inclined to give most alt. practitioners the
benefit of the doubt. "Therapeutic illusions" are
prevalent and powerful. I am sure you are right that other
factors can be involved such as habituation. A tentative
belief can become entrenched if you are motivated to
emphasise all supportive evidence and blind yourself
    anything that opposes.

The real liars/frauds are probably more strongly
represented within MLM schemes and spammers. There are some
alt cancer therapists who I think are quite deluded rather
    than liars.

    this rather emotive news item.

    Peter Moran
    ==============================

Years earlier, a scientist just a few miles away from the
Gelsinger’s home in Tucson had raised serious questions
about whether the experiment was safe.

    Documents

    • Feb. 8, 2002: FDA letter, attempt to ban Dr. Wilson
from other experiments. • March 3, 2000: FDA Warning
Letter, original findings about the gene therapy
    experiment.

    (SEE ANY COVER-UPS THERE, PETER??)

The trouble is, Paul Gelsinger says, Dr. Wilson’s team
had never told him that anyone had ever raised questions
    about safety

(That's fine and dandy according to organized medicine
    member, Peter Moran.)

    AND PETER BOWDITCH!!

ADVERSE REACTIONS WERE NOT REPORTED And that was just the
beginning. Federal investigators, pouring through Penn’s
records, announced at the conference that they had made a
series of startling discoveries, raising questions about
whether the doctors had covered up problems and broken basic
    test rules.

In fact, just a few months before Jesse had signed up for
the experiment, several monkeys given viruses similar to
Jesse’s got sick. And two of them died.

    (SEE ANY COVER-UP THERE PETER??))

The rules for the experiment said: Even if volunteers
didn’t get visibly ill, if tests showed that any of them
had a significant reaction called “grade 3,” the
experiment was supposed to be “halted” immediately.
Records show there were “grade 3” reactions in more than
one patient. The first time, doctors stopped, called the
government and got permission to continue, saying an unusual
condition with the patient might have been the cause. The
second time, they stopped, called and got permission again,
citing another unusual condition. But when it happened a
third time, they didn’t stop, didn’t call. Then, a
fourth time. They didn’t stop or call then either

    (FOUR TIMES PETER!!!!!)

For their own safety, volunteers weren’t supposed
to have a blood ammonia level higher than 50. But
people were coming in with higher levels and without
proper approval. The limit was raised to 70. When
Jesse signed up over the summer, he was within the
limits, but records show that when Penn doctors
tested him, just days before the experiment, his
reading was 114 — more than double the original
    safety limit.

    (That's way cool huh Peter???)

HIGH FINANCIAL STAKES With so many red flags from the monkey
deaths to the reactions in other volunteers, even to
Jesse’s own ammonia levels, Why had Dr. Wilson’s team
    allowed the experiment to continue?

(Wonder if Peter can answer this question?)

At the University of Pennsylvania, the conflict
committee approved Dr. Wilson’s arrangement with
Genovo. In fact, the university itself owned a piece
of his company and stood to profit, too.

    (Hmmmmmmmmm).

In a statement, the university acknowledged that some
information “should have been shared with the FDA
    sooner.”

    (Just a minor little slip,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,)

There was no information given to Jesse or his family about
the monkey deaths. There was no information given to Jesse
or his family about toxic results in prior patients. There
was no information that would allow Jesse and his family to
make any kind of informed decision.”

(Peter STILL can't see any coverup!!!! NO dishonesty!)

    CONFIDENTIAL REPORTS

He told congress that other private companies in the
race for cures had also been doing gene therapy
experiments and had also gotten adverse reactions.
But instead of sharing the information, government
rules allowed them to stamp those reactions
“confidential,” classifying them as trade secrets
to protect their research investments. So, while the
government knew about them, other researchers like
Dr. Wilson and volunteers like Jesse Gelsinger were
    never allowed to see them.

    (TRust the government!!!)

“I was outraged,” says Paul. “I had a right to know.
Jesse had a right to know.

    (Oh my,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,emotions).

***In February, the Food and Drug Administration said that
because Dr. Wilson filed “false and misleading” reports
and “repeatedly and deliberately violated regulations***

    REPEAT FOR THE HARD HEADED!!!

Dr. Wilson filed “false and misleading” reports and
    “repeatedly and deliberately violated regulations

    (No coverups,,,,,,,,,,no fraud,,,,,,,,,,no deliberate
    violations,,,,,,,,,,,,)

HOW DOES THAT GRAB YOU PETER BOWITCH?????

This week marks the third anniversary of Jesse
Gelsinger’s death. At the University of
    Pennsylvania, Dr. Wilson

    ****is still on the faculty****

    (Soooooooooo in organized medicine,,,,,,,,,,,)

****Filing *false and misleading reports* is A
    OK,,,,,,,,,,,,****

    ****REPEATED and DELIBERATE
    violations,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,is A OK.***

but no longer in charge of its gene therapy program. And, in
Congress, lawmakers are still debating legislation to
provide more protection for medical volunteers.

It's the organization itself that is evil. Going way back

politics. Controlling what is taught is medical schools.
Suppressings of alternatives. Ye good ole boy club EGO
thing. There are many good and dedicated medical people in
conventional medicine, that are NOT members of the
    organization.

We have a few examples of organized members right here. Take
a look at how Peter B. lied in his article on Ben Kolb. Then
there are those who defend his lies. Another is Peter Moran.
He denies anything that doesn't come from organized

suffers from all of this? The American people.

people turning to alt. medicine? Newsgroups:

That's where everyone takes me wrong. I have often explained
that I appreciate the many dedicated doctors we have and the
wonderful technology. NOTall doctors or medical people are a
part of the organization. As a matter of fact many fight
against it and can tell some whoppers. The*organization*
itself is where the evil lies. Read about it in Racketeering
    in Medicine.

What is so strange about that? I have stated many times
the evils of organized medicine, I have also stated that
there are many good dedicated doctors who carry a hugh
responsibility, and THANK GOD for them. My young doctor
is very dedicated as is my CRA's hubby who just graduated
from med school. Both will tell you the evils of
    organized medicine.

My heart goes out to the dedicated medical people, God
    Bless them.

I can see how you would get that idea for just one post.
However previously Ihave made it plain that I
appreciated the great responsibility of dedicated
doctors. It is the *organization* that is the problem.
Many doctors are NOT apart of it, and they will tell you
of even more of the evils.

Bad doctors? To answer your question. Yes I would either
call 911 or rush the child to the ER room. And I would
greatly appreciated the doctor who could help my child.
Where do you get the idea that I think all doctors are bad?
I have often said there are MANY dedicated doctors who carry
a great responsibility,,,,,,,,,and THANK GOD for them.

! It is organized medicine that I believe is relentless NOT
    ! individual
doctors! I happen to know and APPRECIATE many
    dedicated doctors.

. Just reading the history of *organized* medcine is an eye
opener. That certainly doesn't mean that we don't have
very good dedicated doctors that carry a great
responsibility. Thank God for them. My concerns are that
there are many good alternative methods that are working,
but are not being accepted because they didn't come from
the organization. In reading the history The AMA tried to
buy the methods they knew were working and when the seller
refused, he was told his method would never see the light
of day. Then they set out to ruin him personally One of
these stories is about Dr Semmelweis who introduced hand
washing. He got the same treatment. One fair and honest
doctor said, let's give this young man a chance. After
taking away his privileges and trying to ruin him, he was
later considered to be one of the best surgeons in the
world. The hesitation on the part of organized medicine
    cost some lives.

God Bless those many dedicated doctors who carry a great
responsibility and do their best by their patients. The
problem is, there is *organized* medicine. They would like
to stop anything alt. and call it BS WITHOUT any proof.

Organized medicine does not mean we don't have very
dedicated doctors. It is much the same as politics. Anyone
one who believes it isn't organized should talk to a new
dcotor who has just graduated. Medicine is indeed organized
    mainly for control.

    Quoted message said:

Oh? And you don't lump all pharmaceutical companies
    together? And '*organized

    medicine*'?

That's correct, never have. I know a lot of doctors who are
NOT a part of organized medicine. They can tell you even
MORE of the evils. And thank God for dedicated doctors.
Perhaps you overlooked that in my posts?

Not by me they're not. I respect good doctors. Many have
certainly earned respect. I have a neighbor who is in his
third year of med school. He isworking very hard and is a
great guy. He also believes in alternative. That's what I
    like to see.

Agreed! I just hope that both can keep an open mind. Both my
Aunt and Uncle have had back and neck surgery and they are
doing fine. The surgeon is a great guy and took time with
    the family after each operation.

Well you are wrong. I have never said I despised doctors,
quite the contary. Both my Aunt and Uncle recently had
necessary surgery and the surgeon was awonderful man who did
    a wonderful job.

How very true. For example one might think that I hate all
MD's. Not so, I am grateful for the good ones. My Aunt had
back surgery this week. Her surgeon was wonderful! He drew
us a diagram of what he did, and took time for allour
questions. Next day, I called and someone answered. We were
cutting up as he told me he was Buba.(I didn't know I was
talking to the doc) He then said, Oh yeah this is Jan who is
going to clean her house for the next two months. He had
picked up on the teasing of the day before when I told my
uncle, that I DIDN'T do dishes. A really nice guy who did a
great job and very down to earth. Wouldn't it be great if we
could know the thoughts behind the words here??

claptrap on which such quacks' incomes depend?

    Peter Moran
    ==============================

Years earlier, a scientist just a few miles away from the
Gelsinger’s home in Tucson had raised serious questions
about whether the experiment was safe.

    Documents

    • Feb. 8, 2002: FDA letter, attempt to ban Dr. Wilson
from other experiments. • March 3, 2000: FDA Warning
Letter, original findings about the gene therapy
    experiment.

    (SEE ANY COVER-UPS THERE, PETER??)

The trouble is, Paul Gelsinger says, Dr. Wilson’s team
had never told him that anyone had ever raised questions
    about safety

(That's fine and dandy according to organized medicine
    member, Peter Moran.)

    AND PETER BOWDITCH!!

ADVERSE REACTIONS WERE NOT REPORTED And that was just the
beginning. Federal investigators, pouring through Penn’s
records, announced at the conference that they had made a
series of startling discoveries, raising questions about
whether the doctors had covered up problems and broken basic
    test rules.

In fact, just a few months before Jesse had signed up for
the experiment, several monkeys given viruses similar to
Jesse’s got sick. And two of them died.

    (SEE ANY COVER-UP THERE PETER??))

The rules for the experiment said: Even if volunteers
didn’t get visibly ill, if tests showed that any of them
had a significant reaction called “grade 3,” the
experiment was supposed to be “halted” immediately.
Records show there were “grade 3” reactions in more than
one patient. The first time, doctors stopped, called the
government and got permission to continue, saying an unusual
condition with the patient might have been the cause. The
second time, they stopped, called and got permission again,
citing another unusual condition. But when it happened a
third time, they didn’t stop, didn’t call. Then, a
fourth time. They didn’t stop or call then either

    (FOUR TIMES PETER!!!!!)

For their own safety, volunteers weren’t supposed
to have a blood ammonia level higher than 50. But
people were coming in with higher levels and without
proper approval. The limit was raised to 70. When
Jesse signed up over the summer, he was within the
limits, but records show that when Penn doctors
tested him, just days before the experiment, his
reading was 114 — more than double the original
    safety limit.

    (That's way cool huh Peter???)

HIGH FINANCIAL STAKES With so many red flags from the monkey
deaths to the reactions in other volunteers, even to
Jesse’s own ammonia levels, Why had Dr. Wilson’s team
    allowed the experiment to continue?

(Wonder if Peter can answer this question?)

At the University of Pennsylvania, the conflict
committee approved Dr. Wilson’s arrangement with
Genovo. In fact, the university itself owned a piece
of his company and stood to profit, too.

    (Hmmmmmmmmm).

In a statement, the university acknowledged that some
information “should have been shared with the FDA
    sooner.”

    (Just a minor little slip,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,)

There was no information given to Jesse or his family about
the monkey deaths. There was no information given to Jesse
or his family about toxic results in prior patients. There
was no information that would allow Jesse and his family to
make any kind of informed decision.”

(Peter STILL can't see any coverup!!!! NO dishonesty!)

    CONFIDENTIAL REPORTS

He told congress that other private companies in the
race for cures had also been doing gene therapy
experiments and had also gotten adverse reactions.
But instead of sharing the information, government
rules allowed them to stamp those reactions
“confidential,” classifying them as trade secrets
to protect their research investments. So, while the
government knew about them, other researchers like
Dr. Wilson and volunteers like Jesse Gelsinger were
    never allowed to see them.

    (TRust the government!!!)

“I was outraged,” says Paul. “I had a right to know.
Jesse had a right to know.

    (Oh my,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,emotions).

***In February, the Food and Drug Administration said that
because Dr. Wilson filed “false and misleading” reports
and “repeatedly and deliberately violated regulations***

    REPEAT FOR THE HARD HEADED!!!

Dr. Wilson filed “false and misleading” reports and
    “repeatedly and deliberately violated regulations

    (No coverups,,,,,,,,,,no fraud,,,,,,,,,,no deliberate
    violations,,,,,,,,,,,,)

HOW DOES THAT GRAB YOU PETER BOWITCH?????

This week marks the third anniversary of Jesse
Gelsinger’s death. At the University of
    Pennsylvania, Dr. Wilson

    ****is still on the faculty****

    (Soooooooooo in organized medicine,,,,,,,,,,,)

****Filing *false and misleading reports* is A
    OK,,,,,,,,,,,,****

    ****REPEATED and DELIBERATE
    violations,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,is A OK.***

but no longer in charge of its gene therapy program. And, in
Congress, lawmakers are still debating legislation to
provide more protection for medical volunteers.

******in the end, whether Jesse was betrayed by the doctors
he and his family thought they could trust.*********
