IRAQ IS NOT VIETNAM

IRAQ IS NOT VIETNAM:

1) in Vietnam, the US was fighting another nation, North Vietnam, and forces
which were coming in from Cambodia, Laos, and China.

In Iraq, we already conquered the enemy, and are fighting terrorists who are
coming in from Syria, Iran, etc. There is a big difference.

2) in Vietnam, the US allowed Pol-Pot, and other Communist Leaders to
participate in the Media, and they were allowed to travel to other nations
and create Public Relations problems, etc. The US had a Hands-Off approach
to the Communist Leaders.

In Iraq, we have killed or captured most of the enemy leaders, and are
openly trying to capture the ones who are still at large.

3) in Vietnam, the US never stated any type of goal, and the Armed Forces
were hampered by constant political interference and "Peace Talks" that
lasted many years.

In Iraq, we bombed them alot first, and except for Rumsfeld not providing
the amount of troops necessary, the US has done most of it right (More
Troops are needed). The stated goal was to take over Iraq and turn it into a
Democracy similar to Japan and Germany after World War II.

4) Casualties- Due to the constant fighting in the jungles, the corruption
of the South Vietnam military, and the complicity of the Vietnamese; the US
Soldiers took heavy casualties. 54,000 dead, around 200,000 injured.

In Iraq, there is no forest or jungle. The "insurgents" are limited to
constant roadside bombings and roadside attacks and bushwacking soldiers who
are doing Patrols inside the cities. While there is daily fighting, attacks,
and casualties; the battles are on a much smaller scale. That is because
there is no way a full-sized battallion of Terrrorist Soldiers could get
into Iraq along with its necessary support. Any such concentration of troops
would get bombed into the Stone Age by the US Troops. So the "Insurgents"
are limited to small squads which attack US Soldiers and Iraq Police. Of
course, there is no "good" way to look at daily casualties. However compared
to Vietnam, where 54,000 US Soldiers died, Iraq is a much better controlled
war. Less than 850 Soldiers have been killed in over a year in Iraq.
Hopefully as the Iraq Police take over more functions, they will be the ones
getting killed by their fellow Muslims.

So, Jeri, what kind of bike do you ride? Are you interested in recumbent
bikes/trikes? Do you prefer USS or OSS? Do you think bike/trike prices
are too high or about right for the market? If you were in Iraq and had
to ride a bike, what bike would you ride? Probably full suspension, huh?
With all those bomb holes and all, ya know. If you could have two
wishes, and we know your first one would be world peace, what would your
second one be? A high racer or a racing trike? You seem to be a very
opinionated person, so please answer these bike/trike related questions,
as this is a bike/trike forum. Looking forward to your bike/ related
response. Peace

"If you were in Iraq and had to ride a bike, what bike would you ride?

I had a great Jordanian roommate a few years ago, but it took putting a gun
to his head to get him on a bicycle. (Not really, but he did make certain
no one he knew saw him.) The aversion that most Arab men have to riding a
two-wheeler is so great that it might actually constitute torture to compel
them to ride one.

As for the type of bike that would be best to ride, there just aren't many
bicycles that are worth a hoot in the desert, at least not in low desert
with lots of sand. Riding any sort of dirt bike or MTB would be fine in the
high desert areas, though... or in the Kurdish areas in the north that
aren't unlike some of our own mountain terrain. Any place else, however, I
think you'd also probably want to mount an M16, and put a couple of grenades
in the water bottle mounts... using a large camelbak for water. But
strictly speaking you'd be more likely to get run over by a car in Baghdad,
than get shot by an "insurgent." (Which is kind of an anemic term for what
these folks do, frankly. Somehow the word "insurgent" reminds me of a run
on the beach, not a head being sawed off a screaming captive, with a dull
knife.)

But I do think Dubai may have some avid sports enthusiasts, being what
passes for the "fitness capital" of Arabia. And it wouldn't surprise me if
a lot of finished bicycles passed through the ports of the UAE. Next to
Taiwan it has one of the busiest shipping port facilities in the world.

Jeri, where have you been all my life? You and I are on the same page
(unlike most of the other nuts and screwballs who inhabit ARBR). The g.d.
major media do not report what the facts are anymore. They have become
nothing but liberal propagandists and have only one aim in their miserable
lives - and that is to get Bush and the Republicans out of office. And they
do not care how they do it either. I give you Al Gore and Michael Moore as
premier examples of the species.

Maybe between the two of us we can drive the despicable Mr. Tom Sherman and
his ilk off this newsgroup. They are nothing but gadflies, but annoying none
the less. They need to have wooden stakes driven through their foul hearts
like the blood sucking vampires that they are. They would like nothing
better than for Vietnam to repeat itself in Iraq. G.D. their rotten souls
all the way to hell and back!

By the way, Michael Moore is a big fat treasonous pig!!! I mean he is one
ugly S.O.B.

Yes, it has been a bit of a draught here on ARBR lately, but I have loaded
my guns and I was just waiting for a post like this one. I will now have my
work cut out for me for the next several days, weeks, months - who knows -
it could go on forever! The liberals ye shall always have with you, but I am
only here with you for a little while.

Whether I can find the strength to ward off all the resulting obnoxious and
pestiferous liberal posts only time will tell. But I will be damned if I am
gong to end up in a mental hospital just because of liberal posting here on
ARBR. If it gets to be too much for me, I will bail out and let ARBR go to
hell - since that is where it wants to go anyway!

How do you find enough space in your tiny brain for all of that arrogance
and hubris? I guess it had to displace the areas normally reserved for
sense, humility and knowledge.

Remember: Every one of your shortcomings is the fault of Liberals, because

We all have to ask ourselves about now what credence we can impart to some

The commies have been totally discredited by history. It is now the
liberal's turn to be discredited. Kind of scares you doesn't it?

I am on plenty of high blood pressure medication so that idiots like you

I do pride myself on my sense and knowledge, but why should I pretend to a
humility which would ill suit me. That is the one virtue that you should
spend all of your time cultivating. You have got lots to be humble about.

By the way, did you know that Rush Limbaugh is the most astute and
intelligent political analyst in the country today? Yes, it is true. In
fact, he may be a genius when it comes to political analysis. I recommend
that you spend 3 hours every day listening to him like I do. Even a
blockhead like you could maybe benefit from some wisdom. Whatever you do,
pay no attention to Michael Moore because he is a big fat treasonous pig
with no brain. Or did I just describe you?

Anyone who has been reading me on this newsgroup knows that I am the

I suspect you, like most liberals, would like to see the US repeat its
experience of Vietnam. Like all liberals you do not like the US ever to take
strong military action anywhere ever no matter the provocation. If it can't
be solved by diplomacy, then it can't be solved. So live with it!

I disagree with all that kind of thinking. I want the US to take strong
military action in the world as there is no else that will except the rogues
and murderers like the Muslim terrorists. You can have your France, I will
take President Bush any old day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Mr. Sherman should have been an academic as he likes to play these little
word games which go nowhere. Why make a comment about geography if you do
not mean something by it? For your post to make any sense you would have had
to include the entire previous post with reference to the particular
passages having to do with the geography to which you were responding in the
first instance. Since you failed to do that, one can only surmise what you
may have meant. The fault is all yours for failing to communicate what you
meant. Being cryptic has it consequences.

I am not defending geography as it needs no defense. What I was saying (as
was Jeri) was that the geography of Iraq is completely different from the
geography of Vietnam and this has military consequences for how the war will
go.

But Mr. Sherman knows full well what I meant as I know full well what he
meant. He likes to pretend to be an idiot every now and then just to get my
goat. But pretending is a hazardous game as it can quickly become reality if
you aren't careful. Before you know it, you will have others questioning
whether Mr. Sherman is an idiot or not.

That's hilarious, an "atheist" who believes in hell. LOL.

So you drank Rush's koolaid. Wait, that wasn't koolaid. What the heck was
that stuff you drank?

BWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Have you always been a drooling moron, or did you have to work at it?

Tell ya' what, Pinhead Ed, you win an Academy Award and then, then following
year, win the Palm d'Or for a documentary, and then we can talk about who's
a genius. Until then, I invite you to eat my dog's steaming pile.

Pinhead Ed, you're plenty gullible, stupid and arrogant enough to toy with
and bait for a while; but I think I'll get pretty bored with your
sub-moronic one-dimensional dittohead talking points. You're a useless
self-absorbed moron, and I know just where you belong. Now listen carefully
for the sound of your thick skull bouncing off the bottom of my big troll
dumpster. Here it comes!

PLONK

Aaaaahhh. That's much better.

I must admit I do believe in hell a lot more than I believe in heaven. But I
use those old Christian terms because that is the milieu that I am living in
and I want to be understood above all else. America is essentially a country
deriving from Anglo Protestant culture. When America loses this Anglo
Protestant culture, it will no longer be America. We are in the process of
losing it now and I believe in another generation or so you and I won't
recognize this country. Well, I will be dead then and so I will belong to
the generations. How about you?

Everyone here makes that mistake about me being a troll. But it is not true.
I believe everything I say. But I am being brutally honest at all times and
I let the chips fall where they may. I would not bother posting to a
newsgroup if I could not say EXACTLY what is on my mind.

Everyone underestimates old Rush because he does fool around a lot and have
some fun on his radio show. But Rush is smarter than all the other analysts
out there in media-land put together.

I repeat, Michael Moore is a big fat treasonous pig who has no brain. By the
way, everyone knows those Palm d'Or awards are based on politics pure and
simple. It is nothing but political correctness gone amuck.

@ is the ultimate asshole. He can't take disagreement like all the other
liberals in this country. That is why they are going down to defeat big time
because the American electorate has finally gotten the measure of them. They
are nothing but scoundrels and blackguards. But mostly, they are just spawn
of the Devil! And have you ever noticed how they are all kill filers. I rest
my case!

Did you notice how the media has reported the Cheney episode but slighted
the previous Kerry episode. And then there are some who claim that we have a
neutral media!

But let's face it - who wouldn't end up swearing and cussing at that
blockhead from Vermont?
