Bush biking toward nowhere?

"Biking Toward Nowhere

"Pressed about how he could ride his bike while refusing to see a

added: "So I'm mindful of what goes on around me. On the other hand,
I'm also mindful that I've got a life to live and will do so."

" ... his war, which has not accomplished any of its purposes, swallows
ever more American lives and inflames ever more Muslim hearts as W.
reads a book about the history of salt and looks forward to his biking
date with Lance Armstrong on Saturday.

"The president's pedaling as fast as he can, but he's going nowhere. "

Personally, I don't like the equating of "obliviously wasting time" and
"riding a bike", but that's just me. ;)

I don't care for the equating of "wasting time" and "riding a bike" either,
but that's just about what George W. is doing. Nice to know that he's got a
life to live. Thanks to his warmongering stupidity thousands of Iraqis and a
few thousand Americans don't have a life to live any more. Excellent column,
I thought.

Mike, the problem with your logic is that you blame Bush. If the Dems
nominated a human being, not a cardboard cutout lying loser, we might have a
President who actually did something.

I live near MASS, I have met John Kerry. He wouldn't meet with Cindy
Sheehan either. Worse, he would be out wind surfing off of Nantucket.

If Clinton was still president he would meet with her and try to nail her.
He'd pull out his Fast ***** and ask her for a Lewinsky.

Maureen Dowd is your typical liberal phony. She is wayyyy to busy to be
bothered with anybody.

Poor Mike,,,, you are as dumb as your posts read.

You're pretty good at the typical straw man attacks. Have you been listening
to Bill O'Reilly perhaps? He's an expert.

Pat in TX where even Dallas went 50.5 % for Bush and 49.5% for Kerry. Not
the "landslide" you've been told about....

Soooo Tom

Who else would you blame for this war? Name a few folks for us. I can't
think of any, but perhaps hope you can.

Bush has been lecturing us about "courage". Well perhaps he could show
some. That woman in TX isn't carrying a gun.

Many years of appeasement, Bill Clinton is as much to blame as Bush

Don't you think the President of the U.S. has to much to do than waste time
with a mental case.

C Sheehan's son Casey volunteered to go into the Army. He further
volunteered to go in Iraq where it was dangerous.

He was not forced to go. He was not drafted.

C sheehan has her own agenda and is using her son's death for political
gain.

Why doesn't she run for office. The fall elections are coming up.

Then, she would be a Congressperson and really have a say.

You sound like the typical Republican cretan that gives the rest of us a
bad name. I guess the world is much too difficult or complex for you.
Obviously you do not study the critical issues and then charge Maureen Dowd
with being a phony. If you looked in the mirror, you would discover that you
are simply a butch Marureen Dowd with a little pecker. Ugh. You are in the
Plonk file.

For Iraq? Surely you jest.

First, Bill Clinton did not appease Bin Laden, he actaully tried killing
him with a cruise missile, for which he was ridiculed in the press.

Secondly, Iraq had NOTHING to do with Bin Ladon or 9/11. It was Bush
and his chicken-hawks that linked Iraq with 9/11 and they are soley to
blame for the poorly designed and executed reconstruction plan.

You can blame Clinton for teenagers thinking oral sex is OK, but you
can't blame anyone but Bush and his chicken hawk administration for the
misguided war in Iraq.

Clinton was wayyyyyy to smart to think a middle-eastern, largly muslim
country could be invaded and converted into a democracy by the U.S.

every right to question the "leader of the free world" about his taking us

Not only that, but GWB fired the man who knew and had experience in
such matters, Colin Powell, when he advised against attacking Iraq.
He wasn't a team player in the presidents eyes. Now he has only
yes-men surrounding him but even they are losing their fidelity.

http://slate.msn.com/id/2095756/

I wonder how there are still GWB faithful who support his deceptions
and massive bad judgment of the situation and of his advisors. Recall
how secretary Rumsfeld predicted the Iraqis would welcome us with open
arms as their liberators who would bring them a new and better
government. Such childish assessments expose a total lack of
comprehension of the world. It is with that perception that we are
sill winning the war on terror... oops, there is anew name for that
effort but I forgot the trivial renaming now. Was it intelligent
design?

I don't want this to be off topic so let me say the Lance Armstrong
bicycle ride is a big dud around the world along with his rude
utterances about why he should take a vacation now.

Forget about bicycles and Texas, he is destroying the USA as a law
abiding member of the world, not only its name. War and hate mongers!
Why do you think the whole nation is so polarized and in-your-face
rude. They take their cues from the top.

The nation is so polarized and rude because waaaaay too many people on
the right and on the left believe all the nonsense their respective
talking heads feed them (that should be obvious reading these
threads).

Sheehan is just another example, and the media has pretty much made it
impossible for 90% of the country to have an intelligent discussion
about her by selectively eliminating facts (like her prior
well-received meeting with Bush, for example - I'd wager most people
don't know she DID already meet with GWB).

Those who only listen to one talking head (be that Limbaugh or
Franken) don't have a clue what's really going on. The sad thing is
that most of 'em don't WANT to have a clue if it disagrees with their
position.

Sad.

I knew about it. I also know the nature of that meeting, where GWB made a
hasty appearance. There is NO WAY she could have presented him with her
perfectly valid questions in that setting.

By now you've got me labeled as another uninformed and biased person. Well,
from YOUR informed and unbiased vantage point, tell me what is wrong with
the questions she has for President Bush.

I know she did, and I know something about the circumstances. Good
job, W. Lasso a grieving mother into posing for your mindless
patriotism tableau.

I'm still waiting for the Limbaugh fans to say "We were wrong. There
were no WMDs."

I'm still waiting for them to say "We engaged in an immoral invasion on
false pretenses."

And I'm still waiting for them to notice that it's Saudis, not Iraqis,
who flew planes into buildings, AND who bombed subways in London.

If they ever do notice, perhaps they can explain why we invaded Iraq,
but continue to shovel money at the Saudis.

It's not about agreeing or disagreeing but what GWB has done to our
nation. Lies about torture, lies about WMD, lies about terror cells
in Saddam Hussein's government and lies about why we are destroying
Iraq then and now. The whole sad mess is going to anarchy. Iraq has
become the center for world terror and we are not the better for it.
As I said, I cannot see how anyone can defend this policy. It's not
about right or left wing talk shows. It's the government itself.
