    Dear readers,

While cruising the internet highway the above parties
had a minor collision resulting in an above average case
of virtual road-rage. Other passers-by may not be able
to resist the urge to participate. It is all just
another part of this amazing age we live in.

    Regards of the day,

    jd

I concur, jd. Other Observations comma gratuitous
    1) Looks like someone flipped off D*l*n's profanity bit
    2) I bet a library would have a book on IP, TCP, PPP,
SMNP and all the other li'l p's that seem to be p'sing
    'im off.

If you examine any of my posts you will note that with me
it is all [censored] for tat. Others are being impolite and rude
first. This entire episode with this "bil" character is
classic and illustrates what I am saying perfectly. I am
just returning the compliments - admittedly with a bit of
interest thrown in for good measure. But if one is polite
with me then I am polite back. I value civilized discourse,
but when you are dealing with barbarians (like "bil"😉 you
have to get on their level. There is no other way with
them. After all, it is better to be [censored] than to be
    [censored] on.

By the way, there is a difference between profanity and
rough language. I only resort to profanity when I am dealing
with a TOTAL idiot like this "bil" character. For most
normal idiots I find that a bit of rough language is more
    than adequate.

And finally your alphabet soup of letters above is just
gobbledygook to me (you don't think I'm going to look up any
of your [censored] do you?). Apparently you do not care about
communicating any more than this idiot who goes by the name
of "bil". Have you ever noticed how no one (not even an
idiot like "bil"😉 ever has any difficulty understanding
me. That is because I know how to communicate. It comes from
having an educated mind, something that is a scarce
    commodity here on ARBR.

  2. No.

    Edward Dolan said:

Nope, I knew he couldn't instruct anyone in anything.
These computer nerds are like idiot savants. They do have
a knack for knowing how to navigate their way around a
computer (probably because they spend their entire waking
lives doing just that) but they are dumbfounded when they
have to explain anything. They just can't do it, the same
way nerds can't do much of anything except for their
    specialty.

Here is a test for this nerd. What is "Internal Server
Error" and how does one correct for it? Sounds simple
doesn't it. But it is beyond him. He can do it, but he
can't explain it. So far he has proven that all he knows
how to do is call names and write phrases, but never yet a
complete, grammatically correct sentence. He should have
stayed in school instead of dropping out to pursue his
computer dreams. But that is a mistake that a lot of young
people make these days. They think there are short cuts
    (the computer) to becoming educated.

    Ed,

Bil is correct on the alt.alt.test. I think what made you

My mother used to say, "If you can't stand the heat, get
    out of the kitchen!"

I am assuming your reference to "your Language" had
something to do with my forthrightness and blunt way of
saying things. Otherwise, why mention it as everyone on this
newsgroup knows by now that my language, other than for the
occasional roughness and rare profanities, is a cut above
everyone else's language, including your's and Sherman's to
name just a couple of miscreants.

The main thing you need to do is learn how to edit. It is
always far better to include too much of what you are
referring to rather than too little. But that is a mistake
that you make along with many others on this newsgroup.
Sherman is also guilty of this, but he knows better and so I
hold him accountable for the scoundrel that he is. We could
all take some lessons from Scott (Freewheeling) who knows
how all of this should be done.

You read me like a book. The damn cable TV is nothing but
highway robbery. If it weren't for Fox News I would never
even look at the damn thing. But this newsgroup I must admit
does engage me. What a cast of characters we have here. And
we all have our roles to play. It puzzles me that everyone
here doesn't just relax more and enjoy the human comedy. We
shall all pass from this scene soon enough and be dead and
forgotten. In the meantime, let us have some fun.

Frankly, if I want information about recumbents I will go to
RCN. Sometimes I think the best advice we could give any
newbies wanting information about recumbents is just to
refer them to RCN. Instead, old Cletus goes off on his
tangent and old Sherman goes off on his tangent - and it is
just about the funniest thing imaginable. To know how to
edit information for a reader is a rare skill and requires
intelligence. That is why Bob Bryant (the editor of RCN) is
where he is at and why the rest of us are where we are at.

For Fox News, as mentioned in my previous post to which you

If someone is giving instruction about how to do something,
then it should be spelled out in infinite detail. It should
be done in such as way that even idiots like you and me can
follow the instructions. If it is not, then it is the fault
of the instructor. I wonder what kind of an instructor you
are if you aren't following this elementary admonition.

By the way, if you are teaching in the elementary grades,
then you do not have students, you have pupils who need to

My Google wasn't posting properly. I kept getting the
message "Internal Server Error". Do you have any idea what
that was all about? I thought not. The truth is that hardly
anyone understands these computers except for the few
geniuses who developed them. That is always the way it is
with high technology. All the rest of us ever want to know
is how do you turn it on an how do you turn it off.

When I talk about "newsgroup [censored]" I am talking about the
content of the posts (what is being said) and not the
techniques of how it gets to the reader. Frankly, the
technical aspects of any of this stuff does not interest me
in the slightest. I just want it to work and not have to
think about how it works. That is for lesser minds than
mine. I will take the high road and you can take the low
road. Just because computer nerds are necessary doesn't mean
we have to like them. Kind of like plumbers and electricians
that way. And civil engineers too come to think of it.

I do all my posting via Google and as long as it works I do
not see why anyone would want a newsreader. But maybe I am
missing something here. If my Google keeps screwing with me,
I will have to resort to a newsreader. So far, OE and Forte
Agent appear to be good. The main thing I like about them is
that they are free. Why would any home user pay for a
newsreader? Maybe you could answer that question since you
have all the clues and I don't.

Doofus, I am innocent. At least of this accusation.

I would like to know what is going wrong with my Google
posting and it is precisely idiots like this "bil"
character who know more about how computers work than
all the rest of us put together.

You did say you ran XP home. Do you have it patched
up to date? firewalled? anti-virus ? etc. etc.

    Maybe you be hacked.

If you are going to travel the internet it is your
patriotic duty to secure your devices.

Otherwise you are a traitor and a terrorist
    sympathizer.

I am only going to do so much in connection with serving my
computer and the Internet. Why is all of this so screwed up
    in the first place?

I do have an anti-virus, a firewall and a few other
miscellaneous utilities, but enough is enough. I have better
things to do with my life (what remains of it) then to put
it at the service of these confounded infernal machines.
Google works just fine 90% of the time, but the other 10%
when it is not working it is infuriating, especially when I
need to post something right away to counter the latest
asinine post of my nemesis, Mr. Sherman. That is a scenario
designed to drive any sane man insane. And as numerous
associates of mine will tell you, I do not have far to go in
    that direction.

OK, so why didn't you put it like that in the first
    place.

We would expect an "intellectual" to be able to
parse a sentence. Mr. Sherman, again kindly
assisting you, explained how to parse my sentence.
You should be proud to have him as your friend.

Mr. Sherman is most definitely not my friend. He is not even
a worthy adversary anymore. I don't believe we are yet
bitter enemies, but that day may not be far off.

Why the hell should I have to parse your sentence. Write it
so it can be understood by anyone familiar with the English
language right off the bat in the first place. You have no
consideration for your readers because you are basically
discourteous. You are most likely an arrogant fellow who
thinks the world should bend over backward in order to
understand you and accommodate you. Unlike you, I go to
considerable effort to make sure my readers can understand
me with out having to do any "parsing".

No, you left off the F'ing word which said it all. You are

My Google is all messed up yet once again. All I get is
Internal Server Error message. I am now trying to send
this via my Outlook Express newsreader. I am beginning to
see why most of you are using newsreaders. If this doesn't
work, I will maybe try Forte Agent.

But while we are name calling here are a few for you: Idiot
