Nah, I am a survivalist. Let's do away with all laws including murder, speeding child molestation etc.. Frontier justice is all we need.

Nah, I am a survivalist.
I am reporting you to our minders for being a domestic terrorist! How much toilet paper are you hording, comrade?
According to our leaders, here are some of the characteristics that qualify:
- Expressions of libertarian philosophies (statements, bumper stickers)
- Second Amendment-oriented views (NRA or gun club membership, holding a CCW permit)
- Survivalist literature (fictional books such as “Patriots†and “One Second After†are mentioned by name)
- Self-sufficiency (stockpiling food, ammo, hand tools, medical supplies)
- Fear of economic collapse (buying gold and barter items)
- Religious views concerning the book of Revelation (apocalypse, anti-Christ)
- Expressed fears of Big Brother or big government
- Homeschooling
- Declarations of Constitutional rights and civil liberties
- Belief in a New World Order conspiracy
Thank God I do not own firearms and love my Big Mother Government!
Our glorious lesbian-in-chief will give us guidence!
- Expressions of libertarian philosophies (statements, bumper stickers)

Just trying to make point CB that in a society there has to be a balance to avoid chaos,
-
The balance thing...it's way out of whack.

You can't balance freedom! That would be like moderating a beating... you know not beating someone so hard that they feel punished... but hard enough they learn a lesson. Ether you beat a person... or you don't. We will ether remain free.... or slip into something called something else. -
Well, [censored], I'm in trouble. I bet 90% of my local friends can check 9/10 (or more) on that list, Bob.
-
I never wore a helmet until 2004.
I had raced for 15 years and then took to touring for a further 5 years without ever wearing a helmet once.
Of course I had my fair share of crashes and falls, but I'd never hit my head in any of those crashes/falls.Serendipity or by sheer good luck, I bought a nice Metz helmet for some reason that year.
In 2005, I had a bad crash where I ended up sliding down the main street of a town on the West of Ireland, hitting my head on the concrete road while doing so.
Thankfully I was wearing the nice blue Metz helmet that I had bought the year before. It's my view that if I hadn't been wearing a helmet that day chances are I'd have suffered some very serious injuries or worse.
You only have to be unlucky, once.

Yeah...I own machineguns, suppressors and I'm sure Reno, Napoleantannerite and Eric, Fast & Furious, Holder have me a LOT of lists. I could not care less. The FBI has my prints from my license app as a Class 7 FFL manufacturer with SOT. I live a very law-abiding life under the magnifying glasses held by our socialist overlords, may they burn in hell.
Worse, just like Napoleantanno, I'm a lesbian trapped in a man's body!
-

Aye.
And it's better to be lucky than good!
Than split Giro I posted pics of...that fall happened so fast there was NO prepping for the landing. I did not see the road coming up to meet my noggin...eyes closed?...but, the sound of the helmet slapping the pavement at 20+ MPH is a sound I won't forget any time soon.
Like I said earlier...it's YOUR head and YOUR choice.
Freedom, frankly, is very scary and full of risks. Chuck Darwin helps us keep things sorted out though and never forget...gravity and speed kill, my friends.

So you suggest that we do away with all regulations and laws and let people make their own decisions and choices? I think you need to define freedom. It means different things to different individuals.
I disagree you have to balance freedom with responsibility and most Americans don't understand that. It is a shame people can't be allowed to make good choices on their own.
All this being said let's be clear that I am against big government and the nanny state system but let's face it most people are just not that smart.
It seems to me that you need a law against being beaten this establishes a standard of conduct but also be prepared to take care of yourself and defend yourself against those that would beat you.
Bottom line I don't care if you wear a helmet or not . I don't care if you don't have homeowners insurance. I however have responsibilities and assets to protect and will use both. -

I think you're mistaken! My brother was allowed to invest all he wanted into Yahoo... something I didn't think was too smart... and I was right. But I've been just as wrong... at other times. "Central Planers" and other Government handlers make no better decisions than anyone else. Risk... is a part of life... risk can not be regulated away. You want Government to establish the standards of conduct you live by??????? Then you will worship at the alter of the state. I don't want to make Government into God... or religion.
A percentage of Homeowners Insurance goes to the State Fire Marshals Office (in my and most states). I kinda think people should pay their taxes. Many taxes have been hidden into the cost of things like phones, utilities, and even.... insurance. Ever hear of "the affordable health care act"? Tax!
But we agree completely about individual responsibility. It isn't easy for all people to see where they are separate from the whole... or the group. But we ARE all individuals. And... we all must make our own decisions. Being free does mean that from time to time you may suffer form your own.... or even others choices. That can't be changed.

unbelievably conflated argument.
risk will not be "regulated" away. most people see that position clearly enough. risk is mitigated. fire codes have come about which result in one building being damaged, say by fire, but the block remains relatively unscathed.
you are condemning government of establishing restrictions on your "freedoms" which you don't believe is within their power, but willingly allow your employer to establish work rules which result in much the same and very real restrictions on your behaviour. the debate has been about helmets, but how many work where safety glasses and reflective outerwear are forced on the employee not because of government regulation or individual choice, but because the employer's insurer co-erces that requirement by giving the insured the choice between lower premiums, higher premiums or no coverage at all? or the employer who terminates the employment of an individual for use of tobacco products-even if the use did not occur on company property? so you are willing to sacrifice your "rights" to your employer's dictates but balk at the power government has to protect the other citizens from the ill effects of your choices? rail against the nanny state all you want (and i most often-times will agree), but recognise that there are other threats to your "freedoms."
we are all quite free to do whatever we wish, as long as we are willing to bear the consequences of our choices. we may ride without helmets, if we wish, but when our brains are severely damaged and we require around the clock care, we'd all better have enough money set aside to pay for it so we aren't left as burdens on the rest of society. quite honestly, i am willing to bet most of us do not carry that type of insurance and most of us could not afford it.
-
I am the administrator for our health care and all insurance here so I am well read on Obama's plan. Just because I am against some legislation doesn't mean I want to overthrow the government. In theory society shapes codes of conduct adminstered by and through government.
As stated there has to be compromise and balance. I hope your freedom doesn't require me to see fat women running naked on the streets. -

BZZZZT!
Obummercare.
Johnny, tell our audience what was behind door number 2!
...but willingly allow your employer to establish work rules which result in much the same and very real restrictions on your behaviour.
You seem to have completely missed that whole 'voluntary' thing...but rage on.
...but how many work where safety glasses and reflective outerwear are forced on the employee not because of government regulation or individual choice
Uh...it's that whole 'individual choice' thing. Choice...get it? No choice widdy da goobermint. Only alphabet agencies, enforcers, fines and prison to keep the proles in line. You don't like your safety glasses? Go work where they're NOT required. Start your own business. Choice...how does it work?
...but recognise that there are other threats to your "freedoms."
Of course there are, but there ARE alternatives in those cases.
...but balk at the power government has to protect the other citizens from the ill effects of your choices?
Would this be the SAME government that mandates that hospitals MUST render care to the injured, regardless of who pays the bills??? Including illegal immigrants. And yes, I balk at that abuse of power.

If only you had just posted only this! I only know one family that is completely self-insured...a neighbor/farmer. Other than them, I agree with Huskey...if it's worth protecting...protect it!

Define..."fat".
Just because I am against some legislation doesn't mean I want to overthrow the government.
Damnit...and here I was, all set to give you an assault rifle and the rank of Major-General in my rebel army.
I realize the name "General Butt Naked" is already taken, so I'm open for suggestions.

I resent the term rebel, I prefer disatisfied taxpayer. How about Major General Manager? That way if we take over the world I can be General Manager of the world.
Oh yeah, fat is anyone that weights 5 lbs more than I do.I am very critical.

I always wanted to be a gorilla fighter, but they were too strong for me.
As far as the fatties go, I make exceptions for some of the plus size lingerie models.
-
I once saw an ad that read " $5000.00 fee to breed with a gorilla, please fill out application inside". I considered it but couldn't raise the $5000.00 at that time.

A very well constructed well written liberal reply. You've convince me! You are of course... absolutely correct! [humor]I happen to carry such insurance! But.... ALL CYCLIST SHOULD BE REQUIRED BY LAW TO POSSESS AND CARRY THE PROPER PROOF OF FINANCIAL RESPONSIBLY... before being allow to bicycle. Thank you... for exposing the error of my thinking... and showing your true beliefs.
