actually, i've been quite ecumenical in my rebuttals to those i've felt had a better argument in their posts regardless of their political affiliations, but needed to think a bit harder on them. and, frankly, you show an inability to engage other posters without resorting to insults concerning their beliefs. and truth be told, you have done more to politicise this chat room than any other, and that with your use of insulting tones.
If you feel insulted, there is usually a reason why that is so. This is America. You are free to believe as you want. You are also free to be laughed at because of those beliefs. If you feel insulted by the sound of the laughter...oh well. There's not much I can do other than try to keep the snickering down...which I do.
Quote: but the government is around to help insulate my health, safety, and financial well-being from the less beneficent souls in this world.
The hell it is! Where in the name of all that's holy libtard did you get THAT loony tunes idea??? You are responsible for...you! Not the damned nanny state you worship.
so how does the military figure in your warped reality? do you personally deliver your own mail to the recipient? are you burying all your savings in the backyard because the fdic is a "communist plot" dreamed up by "libtard lesbians?" i imagine that you choose which side of the road on which to drive based solely on your whims? polio was brought to an end thanks to government efforts. epidemics are less likely thanks to co-ordinated efforts through the cdc. again, your argument is quite thoughtless and filled mostly with ridicule rather than a pointed rebuttal.
There you go with your insults, again. You insult others while wining about insults. Now, go all third grade and whine about who hit who first. To your 'point'.
The U.S. military has absolutely ZERO to do with my health and finances and almost zero when it comes to my 'safety'. Especially in the context of this discussion. But, feel free to keep backpedalling faster than a head-down Spaniard in the Tour headed for the posterior of a rider stopped on the road ahead of him.
The pittance I pay in taxes to support them is negligable and given willingly.
Quote: but the government is not being an over-reaching nanny by making that behaviour illegal in public spaces.
Better keep your liberal lungs indoors. Those cars? They emit poisons! Get on the phone to your favorite Demoncrat right frackin' now! And oh, those stinky diesels! And coal fired power plants! And evaporating dino fuels! And foundries! And refineries! Why <gasp> they're ALL in PUBLIC places!!!! OMGWFBBQ!
I assume you do drive a plug-in electric car that's only recharged from solar panels...amirite? And let's ban all the cell phones that heat your brain up! Might as well make life safe for everyone...it be da goobermint's duty and reason for it to be!
Goobermint will fix it fo' me and protect me from all the eeevil!
cars do emit poisons. that part you have right. they pollute far less than they did thanks to the epa. same goes for power plants and foundries and refineries. foggy london town wasn't really foggy any more than johnstown, pennsylvania, or los angeles. and unless you are drinking your water from a well that you dug, you are less likely to die of a water borne disease thanks to standards set and enforced by the epa and paid for by taxes. unless you are slaughtering your own livestock, the same for your provender. as for the rest of that bit of your diatribe, by all means, wire your own house with stereo wire and 220 volts. another government regulation brought about because of people who did and we found that to be a bad idea.
I do drink water from my own well .Two of them, actually. SCREW the EPA. And screw those that worship it. One well is dug. One is drilled with a pounder rig. Please tell me when I'm 'likely' to die. I really want to have some advance warning on that. Thx.
My well. NOT the government's. My water. NOT the governments and certainly NOT yours. My water standards. NOT the government's.
When will I die from drinking my water?
Septic is mine, also. Not the government's [censored] either...although I read a lot of that stuff here. Is that hate speach?
NO building regs here either. NONE. If I wanted to live in a pole building I could. No structural inspection. No electrical inspection. No plumbing inspection. No site inspection period. Please tell us how we all manage without big sisters telling us how to live? Thx.
I eat beef, pork, chicken and eggs right off the farm. I have not bought USDA inspected meat in almost two decades, other than some eateries, and I'm still alive and doing well. Now...about all those E coli and lysteria outbreaks...
Please tell us how we've all managed not to die or when we will. Thx.
So...all the Euros wire at 220V have a bad idea???WTF? Talk about "diatribes" (An insulting term! I protesteth to da goobermint!). And anyway, my generator puts out 110 AND 220 because...oh, my well pump, dryer and air require 220. Another bad idea. Now, please backpedal some more.
Sorry, you're the one living on your knees in front of your government. And apparantly loving every minute of it. If the truth somehow has become an insult I can certainly understand why you are in such pain. Not my fault, brah.
Am I "engaging" your "debating" enough? Surely I have not "insulted" you! I really hope my "tone" is pleasing to your ears. And I certainly hope I've stayed 'on point' enough to increase your happiness and joy this fine morning.
Quote: like i have said, i am for having the liberty to make choices.
Uh...which side of your mouth are you talking out of? The Feinswine or Pelosi side? Well, as long as YOU agree with those choices You are all for them. Let's be accurate here.
Those that would surrender liberty for security deserve neither.
Guess who already surrendered?
yes, let's be accurate here. so, you think it's a good thing to make a choice and be unsupportive of it? you seem to be living in the world of the black helicopter spotters, and quite likely a high-ranking official, given some of your rather distasteful, hate-filled characterisations of the people posting here, the world in general, and those with whom you disagree. as was stated to me by a friend in texas quoting his grandfather, "democracy is a great thing. it's just a shame that we all have to live with it." in other words, we are not a dictatorship. we are a republic with democratically elected representatives. the union exists for all of us. and the reality of this world is it cannot exist if we are to adhere to your demand for a plebiscite form of government.
Ah...more insults! Thank you. Comparing democracy to mob rule and socialism....
i offer this as a bit of constructive criticism. debate the idea and leave the personal insults out.
Sure. Right after you do.
you do resort to them when you have nothing to counter a point. and please stop politicising this web site. not every topic needs your personal political view added to it.
You seem to be quite willing to do the same. Hypocrit much?
Re-read the very first line of this thread: Cycling is all about freedom.
That it is. And you certainly are opposed to someone else's opinion about it. Limiting freedom...that's exactly what you seem to be about.
