He is long overdue for someone to slap those
    right off his face.

He was wearing those last year when he won at Pla d'Adet.
This spring he wears some almost normal looking shades
at Paris-Roubaix and he breaks a goddamn steerer tube!

He should keep the shades, maybe he knows something
    we don't.

Also, yet again George refutes the "George will never win a race
on a Sunday" rbr maxim. That's panache.

Hinault looked dorky in his RayBans back in '85.
Andy Hampstien looked goofy in those early Oakleys.

Greg Lemond was able to wear anything and look good.

Uh huh. At this point, George's shades have convinced me that Oakley,
official supplier of ugly sunglasses to George Hincapie, make ugly
    sunglasses.

George needs to get a less hideous signature detail. Maybe a Maori-style
    facial tattoo?

It's probably because of the ugly bike. I'd like to get one of those
    nice stripey jerseys, though.

George didn't win a race yesterday ... he got third in the sprint for the
bonus points/seconds; the lone break had already taken the 6 second
bonification, and he was beaten to the line by one of Thor's Credit Agricole
    team mates.

But that's how Hincapie wins; he won the Driedaagse van De Panne by
accumulating enough third placings to become best overall. It's called
making the most of your abilities.

Yes, and no disrespect meant to him. But the guy who
takes the yellow jersey gets to stand on a podium and
wave a lion, and gets UCI points (or whatever they're
called now). It's a big deal, like winning a stage (as you know).

IIRC, the "George will never win a race on a Sunday"
maxim was said by somebody to claim that although
George might be able to pick off Ghent-Wevelgem, he
would never win the big race - like Paris-Roubaix or
Flanders. He hasn't won those, of course. But last year
he did win a bunch of races on Sundays. It was a little
    spooky.

What's more notable is that if you look at the photos of his teammates
crossing the same point on that TT course during their runs, their
    cranks were all in sync.

Never earned a jersey, but once a beer-themed one as a random prize, and
won a t-shirt that said "champion" in a citizen's race,

This'll date me, it said "le Coq Sportif" and the stripes were stitched not
sublimated. Nice jersey, but, alas, not the same at all.

At least it's not one of those plastic bikes they're riding nowadays.

I purchased an old team Superia jersey with the World's stripes on the collar
and arm bands from ebay. Now I demand respect from riders.

Hey, when he does charity rides nowadays, does he make sure his jerseys
have the little world-champ stripes on the sleeves? Or maybe, following
the Lance Example, a discreet yellow stripe? Because man, if I ever won
a world championship, I would totally have those stripes hanging out for
every charity ride, club ride, training ride in public, probably even on
my trainer when I was 80 and living in a home for demented anti-doping
advocates (it will be me, Brian, and [censored] Pound. We'll have senile
kaffeklatches talking about how nice it was that we were all proven
correct. Too bad about us all being crazy...)

Anyway, if I even ever win a district champion jersey, I am totally
having little sleeve-stripes made up. Heck, I'd probably get them for my
    dress shirts, too.
