My husband has just informed me he has ordered a pair of Zipp 404 wheels and a Zipp disk wheel, all brand new, for Nathan, at a cost in the region of £1600...
So no excuses from Nathan then when it comes to his time trialling in the forthcoming season!
Vernon's excuse, err.. reason, is 'it's Nathan's main exam year and I don't want him distracted by drooling over cycling kit."
There is a certain logic to that, but I shall be using my husband as a tester for my forthcoming book, '101 exciting recipes for baked beans and tripe' ;D

Oh. 404s. Good choice sir! I think a pair of those might be arriving on my bike before the season really gets going....

Will these recipes be published here, just like the pease pudding recipe ?

I was going to get one of those but there's no way I can lock the disk wheel up to the frame as I go for my morning paper, so I didn't bother ;-) I trust Nathan's bike will be spending the night at the foot of his bed chained to his ankle like mine are now! I couldn't sleep at night if they were in the garage.

I'm sure 404s aren't available.
R.
Yes they are apparently: husband has just ordered some and was told they are available. Mind you, husband was told they would be going up in price in the very near future...
Any particular reason why you think they aren't available?

You are joking ? £1600 on wheels for a kid ? Surely he should be studying instead of messing around on bikes in such an important year in his education.

It was a pune, or, play on words, madam, referring to a certain error code on the interwebby thingy. I'm sure Nathan's /wheels/ will be found, however.

Quicker time trials = less time on the bike and more time to study.

Indeed he does study. He studies a lot. I make sure he studies a lot. However all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. He does require *some* time out periodically for a bit of relaxation. It also helps keep the mind fresh and the spirits up to help retain the information studied. And as his chosen relaxation to get out in the fresh air on his bike, which is infinitely preferable to said relaxation time being spent vegging out in front of the TV or on games console... Or do you think I should actually chain him to a desk?

That's what my web browser tells me, too. But I go round the corner to the bus stop, and it tells me when the next one is coming. Which should I believe, the intarweb or a bus shelter?
