Judith Swallow and I discussed food at some length on Sunday, after we
returned from Scarborough[1].

There is 'fuel' and there is food.

Fuel is what's needed on the road; it is cheap, sometimes stodgy and
easy to digest.
A good Audax control should supply it rapidly on request.

Food can be gourmet experience and not always cheap.

We received fuel at Scarborough and would have preferred food...

By all accounts, Nathan is _sensibly_ fast and improving. Faster than
me anyway.

When I was about his age my Dad bought me a Nikon SLR as I was quite
into photography. Not quite the same league but not far off in terms of
cost. It is still an excellent tool and has been fantastic value for
money. SOme would have argued why such an expensive camera should be
given to a teen..

I was just a bit surprised at the reaction of the OP. If you bring up
a subject for discussion, I think you have to accept that everyone has
a right to make comment - good or bad.

As far as the cycling requirements of the inhabitants of Chateau Simmons are
concerned, I'm more than willing to have the cheap & cheerful stuff from
Aldi, Lidl etc., and second-hand equipment, as is Vernon, as we are not
competitive cyclists. We're more than happy to go without, if it means
Nathan can have something better to develop his love of cycling as a sport.

It was my Christmas present from my personal bike mechanic for Christmas 04.
As it's much more stable on icy roads than a two-wheeled upright, Norbert is
often used on the college commute in cold icy weather.

He's already married to her, so it's not as if he's trying to pull.
She should already be doing his cooking and cleaning, so it's not as if
he needs to try and bribe her into doing it. Or, if she's not doing his
cooking and cleaning then she doesn't deserve expensive presents.

More money than sense, some people.
