My husband has just informed me he has ordered a pair of Zipp 404
    wheels and
a Zipp disk wheel, all brand new, for Nathan, at a cost in the
    region of £1600...

You are joking ? £1600 on wheels for a kid ? Surely he should be
studying instead of messing around on bikes in such an important year
    in his education.

Indeed he does study. He studies a lot. I make sure he studies a lot.
However all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. He does require
*some* time out periodically for a bit of relaxation.

Not to mention how much better the brain works if it's got a nice healthy
heart and lungs to power it.

And with that, I notice it's getting dark soon, and my body needs exercise.

So, not a cunning plan on your part to prise Nathan's sticky paws off Mr
    Frosty then? :-)

There is a certain logic to that, but I shall be using my husband as a

That should ensure he has a tailwind for the rest of the year.....

Currently he's decidedly in love with his Cervelo Soloist. Dreams of CSC
methinks. Good job he hasn't used Norbert Frosty to go to college the past
couple of days. Up the road for the last two days there's a long section
which is so deep in mud that it's effectively an off-road section. I've
never known it so bad. There's a lot of agricultural machinery being moved
with no attempt made to clear the road of mud. It is inches deep across the
entire width of the road for several hundred yards. If he was using Norbert,
I think he'd sink out of sight!

Oh. 404s. Good choice sir! I think a pair of those might be arriving
on my bike before the season really gets going....

    I'm sure 404s aren't available.

Yes they are apparently: husband has just ordered some and was told
they are available. Mind you, husband was told they would be going up
in price in the very near future...

Any particular reason why you think they aren't available?

Don't take it personally, but having one offspring is expensive enough. I
knew I got neutered for a reason ;-)

Ah, Free Range Mud Farming. Used to get a fair bit of that when we lived
    in Zummerzet.

Worst thing though was when they resurfaced one of the country lanes on
my then route home from work and signally failed to remove the excess
chippings. Trying to ride uphill through 2" or so of loose gravel was
Not Much Fun, especially as it was on my upright, which nearly
    wasn't....

Good practice for the bog-snorkeling championships I guess, but not so
    good for the paintwork.
