I had my cholesterol tested at 220 total in the begining. I first tried soluble fiber to control it. That brought it down to 169. Then I decided to become a vegatarian to control it more. After a few months of getting rid of dairy and red meat and poultry my total cholesterol is now stabalized at 133.

No need for drugs. I let my body do it!
That's great. All that sacrifice just to keep cholesterol down. Did you give up sex to?

Why would you want to do that? There isn't a single study that has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that cholesterol causes heart disease. Not the Seven Countries Study nor Framingham nor MRFIT, etc, etc

He wants to starve himself like Karen Carpenter because he is so afraid of cholesterol. Her heart stopped because her cholesterol was so low she starved.

Probably by lowering total cholesterol he brought the cholesterol ratios down as well. And that _does_ count. Congratulations, Nick, that was a wise thing to do!

I don't feel as if I've given up anything.
And I've lost 65 pounds because of what you call a sacrafice!!! Maybe you won't sacrifice your drugs?
In your face... Don't tell me I can't eat the right way!

Cholesterol below 160 is *BAD*! Or do you think is serves no purpose in the body?

It's called anorexia nervosa. I am sure you will lose even more pounds. If you give up solid foods you will even lose more weight and really lower your cholesterol. Why don't you try living for awhile.
Ann I waited to give up dairy. I've done it more than once. I did find I feel better and consume less calories by drinking good soymilk for my beverage.
I am not looking for pleasure from food as the health I get from eating right gives me pleasure. I have well being! And logeveity I am certain will be another reward.

Try drinking horse [censored], I hear it is even lower in calories than soy milk Nick.

Yes I can see that your diet certainly gives you no pleasure. Are you a masochist Nick. Do you want a medal for putting up with the ultra-boring diet?

Low cholesterol is not conducive to longevity. Low cholesterol is more likely to make you a candidate for a stroke.

Sad isn't it? Nick is just another fat-phobic head case that needs help. I wonder if Nick realizes that people die of CHD whether their cholesterol is high, low or in-between?
I'll continue to eat right. My body can take care of itself!
You don't even know what living right is.
Your plain silly.
Dude, eating vegetarian is *not* eating right. Vegetarianism is a form of calorie control, which is why I think the majority of vegetarians are women. Teenage girls take up smoking and/or vegetarianism to control their weight. Also, vegetarianism is a religion as is evidenced by the wacky followers we see posting on message board forums, chat groups and usenet groups such as this one. The healthiest and longest lived civilizations on this planet were and are *not* vegetarian. They all have healthy omnivorous diets.
