I must add besides fiber and vegetarianism also my
omega 3 consumption probably lowered it.
Have you tested your triglycerides after being on a vegeterian
diet ? I am a vegeterian and my triglycerides are slightly elevated
and my doctor told me since I am a vegeterian my TG's are a bit
elevated but that is not a concern at all . My total cholesterol
LDL and HDL are normal . I am a T2 diabetic .
I am thinking of adding fish oil suppliments to reduce
the TG's . What's your experience ?

Kam I became a vegetarian for the reason of bringing down
my triglycerids not my cholesterol.
Four years back they were at about 500. It didn't bother my doctor
so it didn't bother me unfortunately.
I fired that doctor. My new doctor told me that I could do better.
So I set out to do things myself. I went on a low fat diet first
and that brought my triglycerides to 300. Then after seeing that
they were still high I became a vegetarian. Now I tested at about
150. Which for some reason wasnt low enough for my new doctor who
wants me to take his "drug"
I am on a low carb diet so I expect to consume more fat.
A few points above normal is not a problem for me
considering how long I lived with them so high!
The fish diet probably does lower triglycerides but it
hasn't been enough for me to see.
I tried Red yeast rice for a month for triglycerides.
It didn't raise my HDL and it didn't lower my Triglycerides.
What it did do is drop my total cholesterol to what I consider
a dangerous level: 107.
No more red yeast rice for me!!!
And I am adding occasional meat!
So I just am not a strict vegetarian.
I know I can bring my cholesterol back to
a healthy level. I am shooting for about 150-160.
