  1. Wow...I didn't realise just how many free weight snobs there are out
there. People who think that if you don't lift free weights you are not
doing anything. There seem to be a lot of people who think that they
are better than everyone else because they use free weights...not
everyone has access to free weights, not everyone wants to use free
weights for every exercise...some people like a good mix of both free
weights and machines...to each their own !! There are advantages to
free weights and I recommend that everyone who's goals are to do more
than get a little exercise do some free weight exercises. There are
also advantages to machines as they tend to instill good form.

From what I understand quite a majority of the machines prevent

obtaining the desired ROM. To a point where a lot of them could be
    dangerous.

Sure, lots of people can't handle squatting, for example.

Short of rehab, free weights and the proper lifts are better then any
    machine.

The only advantages i have heard from you for these machines is that it
is easy to load weight on because the weights are right on the machine,
    and it is safer.

Anyone with enough chromosomes knows machines are no safer then free
weights. And I don't mind walking around the gym to collect the plates
I need, even if they wern't stacked on the bench or power rack I am using.

Machines do not instill good form, they cause you to rely on the machine
to tell you what the form is, un-instilling good form.

This forum has a powerlifting/iron-moving, educate yourself, get smart,
train smart, mindset and your machine propaganda isn't going to work
around here, because we know better. Go somewhere else if you want
someone to agree with your views on weight machines.

I don't think 'form' is an issue here - you can have bad form using free
weights even easier than when using machines. I have been in this industry a
long time and have seen that many people get excellent results using
machines and over many years. I think this is an issue of convenience, time
efficiency and using what is available to you. There is nothing wrong with
    that.
