Quoted message said:What the [censored]? I've been feeling like [censored] for a long time, failing at my
diet, failing at quitting smoking, failing at getting a new job or a
boyfriend, just failing at being a human being in general.
Didn't you just get a new job at the Y and why do you need a boyfriend to be
happy?
Just like me you have come out of a relationship. Even though I miss *him*
from time to time I know it is best that we are apart until we can *both*
change (him too...not just me)
and if we never meet up again and become real friends then that is okay and
if not then that is okay as well. I have some good memories and some good
lessons to take from that relationship but for now I have decided it is just
best for me to spend a lot of quality time with myself and decide where I am
going with my life and what I want out of my life without jumping back into
a serious relationship.
You have not failed at getting a boyfriend...perhaps the time just is not
right for you to have one right now.
You also never failed at your diet. You have done very well from what I read
since you first arrived at ASDLC. You have done 100 times better then I ever
could. Sure I quit smoking 10 years ago but I feel like I will *never* get
this weight off of me and I will die fat. I cannot get into the same
mindframe for staying on my weight loss plans as I was in when I quit
smoking. I know it is hard but somehow we both need to figure out how to go
about getting to our respective goals.
Quoted message said:So I finally
say I have to do something about this, do something productive in my life
before I completely stagnate, so I pick something I've actually had some
success with, something I've proven I can actually do, something I know
makes me feel better about myself and my life in general, something that
gets me moving again and boosts my confidence and makes me feel like I can
accomplish even more things in my life, and I feel like I'm picking myself
up and dusting myself off from the mess I've made of things, getting back
on track
So what do you plan on doing?
Quoted message said:and all I get from you people is a bunch of [censored] insults
about my weaknesses. Duh.
Some of the people here are not very kind, that is true and many of them do
not have any empathy.
I do not listen to those types anymore. They just drag you down.
Quoted message said:I know I'm weak, you don't have to tell me
that.
You are not weak. It took me several attempts before I finally quit smoking
and apparently it is taking me several tries to attempt to get this weight
off. I hope I can succeed
but if not I won't look at myself as weak and you should not either in
relation to quitting smoking. Look back on it as..'What have I learned from
that
and where do I need to go from that in order to BE successful with this.
Quoted message said:I know smoking is bad for me, you don't have to tell me that either.
Maybe that is what you should think about every time you light up.
Think about HOW bad it is for you. Think about all those poisons you are
putting in your body.
Would you feed those same poisons to anyone else? No. Then why feed them
to the most important person in your life.............YOURSELF!!
(Lordy....I think I am channeling Mike here...LMAO!!)
Quoted message said:I never would have even tried to quit in the first place if it hadn't been
for the successes I'd had with weight loss, that made me feel like hey,
maybe I can do this, until the weight started coming back and everything
just fell apart again.
What made the weight loss come back?
Quoted message said:I need to quit smoking right NOW, right this
second, whether I feel ready to or not
Yes you do because it is better then waiting until you are told you have
lung cancer or mouth cancer or any host of things smoking can give you.
Michelle, I have been told I have an enlarged left atrium in my heart. I am
at LEAST 200 pounds overweight. I am not certain on exactly what I weigh
because I cannot find a scale that goes as high as my weight. I can barely
walk from my bedroom to the bathroom at this point and I get so tired and
fatigued and out of breath it is not even funny. I look in the mirror and
am disgusted by what I see from the neck down. It is a *chore* just for me
to walk to the bus stop to get to the Y to exercise but starting Monday when
my new membership is approved I will be down there because I HAVE to do this
so I will not die an early death. You have to do the same thing to in
regards to quitting smoking. You do not want to die an early death. I know
you don't. Your dad sure doesn't want you too either and I know you love
him. If you cannot quit smoking for you....then quit for him.
Quoted message said:plus I need to work out two hours a
day and eat as little as possible and lose at least 2 pounds a week, or 5
pounds a month or whatever the "standard" is in the challenges, and get a
new job and move out, and go snag myself a husband and have some kids so
you can tell me how to raise them, and if I don't do it ALL according to
you all's time schedule then you're gonna jump all over me. Thanks for
all
Quoted message said:the "support."
You have my support no matter what path you choose and whatever decisions
you make but
try not to listen to the naysayers. In the end and at the end of the day
the ONLY one you need
to please is yourself...........not some faceless strangers on the computer
you will probably never meet.
And besides there are a lot more lowcarbing boards out there that are a
thousand times more supportive
then ASDLC ever could be.
