Well, it's always good. I want to dry foods for my canoe trips and
have somewhat successful, but I mostly do daytrips.

I knew you were the right kind of people when it comes to survival.

You know, originally I was very anti gun, but then I realized that the
Swiss have more guns (not handguns) per capita than America. I think
the real issue is education, but I don't see anything happening in
that front either.

My girlfriend wants a handgun for the overnight canoe trips, but we'll
see. The worst predators out there are not criminals, but speeding
motorboats.

I just wanted to know much better was in 1992 when I was there. I

No, I was indeed teasing you, but a few GOOD SUGGESTIONS are found in
that article. For example, the 20mph limit on the slow lane makes so
much sense. We would start though by explaining to people there's such

How about BIKE FACILITIES? It seems cyclists still must negotiate the
streets. Copenhagen made bike lanes on major streets lately.

I think the most basic rule of the road is LANE DISCIPLINE, without
which the whole road becomes a zigzagging mess. If we don't have that
we are left with the law of the jungle.

The trike is really visible. I rode 15 miles today, and at one time I
had to take the street, where, again, I was honked at by an SUV. Do
they mean "hi" or "get out of my way"?

It was back alleys and sidewalks after that.

Bananas will keep you going for a very long time indeed, but you will

course, school rifle teams, hunting safety courses and so forth.
I used to shoot on my highschool rifle team, most kids brought their
shotguns and rifles to school as they hunted before and after classes
during deer season and so forth. My first metal shop project was
rebuilding a very elderly .44 Colt peacemaker.

All brought to a screeching halt by the anti-gun zealots.
When the educational system is controlled by Liberals..the last thing
they want is anything to do with firearms.

This of course is tantamount to refusing to teach children to properly
cross the street, how to avoid molesters, not to drop and roll when in
flames and so forth.

Actually..its intentional, as an ignorant group of children are bound
to have accidents with firearms, and blood and death makes good press
for the antigun agenda.

Its like those that want cars to be removed from hiways, preventing
any sort of drivers training. There is NO way to keep kids from guns.
Fact of life. Same with smokes, booze and dope.

Yet the antigunners want as many accidents as possible to push their

training to any school.
The Eddie Eagle program is exceptionally well thought of and works
very very well in preventing children accidents with firearms.

Exactly. As long as drivers are as on-the-ball wrt
watching out for cross traffic as cyclists are.

Drivers' speeds don't really affect cyclists as much
as people would like to think. Yes, they do have an
effect, but we can deal with it.

It seems to me that drivers tend to view cyclists as
"the enemy" more than vice verso. In this very subthread,
cyclists are accused of "bullying" drivers. Go figure.
We and our 20-pound machines are out to make life miserable
for people in their 3-ton, rolling, climate-controlled
living rooms. Yeah, right.

This is just Usenet. In real life, people are slightly more
adept at getting along with each other.

I'm quite prepared to get along nicely with reasonable,
