Sore-[censored said:"]But Probikekit is much cheaper on everything in general, not just tyres. Local Bike Shops (which I presume is the meaning of the "LBS" acronym) have overheads such as staff wages, lease on premises, etc etc. They have to make a living and I sometimes feel a bit guilty about boycotting their business, but I am not Donald Trump and if I can save some $$$...anyways there's enough Tri-hard-athletes 😎 with huge disposable incomes, willing to buy stuff in an LBS....
I tend to agree, but......
these are 2 more of my cents: 🙂
I'm all for supporting the local shop; my beef is purely with tyre prices! Oh, and knicks: over $150 for a bit of lycra and a chamois??!! CARMON!! :p I reckon we're getting totally ripped on these 2 fast-wearing items.
Think about it: A HUNDRED BUCKS FOR A BIKE TYRE that I'd be lucky to get 2,500km out of on the rear!!!!
Other items don't bother me so much. For eg, I'm thinking about getting some new Dura-Ace cranks, which I can get on Probikekit for $412 (on special, but they're not there this week), and at my local shop for $500. I'm happy to pay $500 for them at my local shop because the discrepancy is not as MASSIVE as the tyre price disrepancy, and I obviously don't buy cranks every month
