Tour De Romandie - Picks ("D" word banned!)

Nice pick Bro Deal. I can never predict who is going to win those insanely short TT's. Eg: Thor winning the 06 tour prolouge.

Yes Il Falco is Astana's captain...

I am sure he is. With Basso out, Savoldelli has got to be extremely motivated. It looks like he has good power judging by his prologue in the TdR.
Does it make sense for Savo to win, place, show at the Romandie? I realize, a stage win, prologue are in order but do you think he will push it this week ?

He probebly won't, he will save something for the Giro and than lose the Giro anyway ;-)))

(sorry about that.. )

Probably not, which I mentioned that possibility in my pick. I think he'll go all out to test his form in either the ITT or a mountain stage. He could win almost by default if he is in really good condition, but there are probably guys like Evans who can go all out the whole race and not have to worry about recovering before the Giro.

I know, I don't get a good feel for what races motivate the riders this year. Savo should be focused on the Giro though.

Why not. The prologue wasn't his thing but the 20 kilometer ITT is...

Dekker's at 16 seconds and 24th place.
Cadel's at 14 seconds himself.

Salvodelli has himself come out and said he does not plan on winning TdR, but that he plans on testing himself.

Beppu came so close to winning the stage. It probably would have been one of the (maybe the) biggest road win by a Japanese rider in Europe. I cannot think of anything that comes close.

Can Horner hang on to the G.C.? He's only 15 seconds ahead of Savoldelli, who looks to be the best time trialist in top ten. I cannot remember Horner ever riding a good time trial, but he seems to be in very good form now.

I think Il Falco will take the whole enchilada tomorrow.

Looks like it's between Savoldelli, Dekker and Evans for the win now. I'm going to place my bets on Savoldelli, simply because I think he wants to put on a show of force ahead of the Giro. Dekker to take second.

I will stick with Cadel.

How about Kreuziger to make up 52sec?? Not without a chance I would have thought...

Well, Dekker takes the TT by 5 seconds over Savoldelli, and therefore the overall as well. Good effort!

Well done DiabloScott who picked Dekker from Day 1.

Its late here in Oz and I dont have a good web update yet, but based on Eldrack, great ride by Dekker to take only a few seconds on Salvo into the stage and increase it. Presumably salvo came 2nd? Not bad for someone who said he wasn't going to try too hard after the prologue!!

Ok then, Cadel was on a warm up for the TdF and will win for sure!!

Good win by Dekker. He won the overall points classification also.
