  1. So I should lose weight without putting any thought into it? And I
should take advice from you . . . um, why? Oh, because you were so
successful in losing the 5 or 10 vanity pounds you lost. You never had
a large amount of weight to lose, so you have no idea what it takes.
Get yourself really fat, lose all your coping skills and comfort
yourself only with food, develop an anxiety disorder, and then lose the
weight, and then maybe you'll be qualified to advise me.

Maybe. Maybe if they're excited and happy about their progress thus
far, they'll keep pushing to the finish line. But you think they
shouldn't be excited and happy until they're already done.

    Are you?

Slowly losing what I regained. When I get back to 150, then I'll
    officially be losing again.

  2. Why? Is it worth it? Oh yeah, I'll be thin, but physically weak and
miserable. No thanks, I'd rather exercise more and lose slowly than
    starve myself thin.

  4. These are not excuses. These are reasons why losing weight is difficult
for me in a different way than it was for you, reasons why what worked
to keep you psychologically in the right frame of mind may not work for
me. Everyone who is fat and loses weight has their own thought process
that gets them to the mental and emotional place where the difficulty of
losing weight is more attractive than the consequences of being fat. If
you're not in that place, you won't stick with it. I'm working on
getting in that place, so it's not an excuse to do nothing. It's just
an extra step I have to go through that you didn't have to, and since
you didn't, you can't tell me or anyone how to do it.

should take advice from you . . .

  6. I believe that you would need special training to teach math to kids
with certain types of learning disabilities. I, and many others with
food problems, drug problems, etc. have a "coping with stress"
disability. Which is not to say I can't overcome it, just as kids with
learning disabilities like dyslexia can overcome it and learn math and
reading. But they can't overcome it by "butching up" or ignoring the
dyslexia and pretending it isn't there.

  8. Um, isn't everyone? We're all born with natural talents in some areas,
and natural disabilities in others. Whining and complaining about it
doesn't help, which you understand, but nor does ignoring it and hoping
it goes away on its own, which you don't understand.

  9. Understanding your point of view is a disability of mine, I will admit.

Catering to your self-perceived "disabilities" is not productive, in my

  10. X-No-Archive: yes

You know what Luna means. She's saying she and a whole bunch of us in
here aren't as good as you in "butching up", so let it slide. Some days
we do better, so days we do worse. Can you say that you've performed
equally well in every lesson you taught throughout the whole school
    year?

Understanding your point of view is a disability of mine, I will admit.

Let's see if I can put it another way that maybe you will understand.

Making excuses = "Life is stressful, stress makes me eat too much, I
can't control it, please feel sorry for me, please change society to
    accommodate my fatness."

Not making excuses = "Life is stressful, when I am stressed I choose to
eat too much, with hard work I can change this behavior."

I am working hard at changing my behavior, changing how I choose to
react to stressful situations. It isn't as easy as I thought it would
be, it doesn't happen overnight, and I do falter. But slowly and surely
I am getting better at it.

  13. I'm fairly consistent in my lesson preparation and delivery, to the extent

Um, isn't everyone? We're all born with natural talents in some areas,
and natural disabilities in others. Whining and complaining about it
doesn't help, which you understand, but nor does ignoring it and hoping
it goes away on its own, which you don't understand.

Exactly. Im sure that what you do fits your definition of supportive. Im
not bothered by my fat enough to need a "personal trainer" like you seem to
volunteer to be. I was just curious about talking over some of the benefits
    of the diet.

    Gandalf Parker

  19. Exactly. Right now mainly I know I'm getting better at it because I
exercise every day, which is one of my tools for dealing with stress in
a healthier way. I'm also confronting people who [censored] me off, politely
but firmly, instead of bottling it up inside and quietly resenting them.
I've tried meditation too, but so far haven't had much success with it.
Can't make the brain be quiet, you know? I've toyed with the idea of
anti-anxiety medication, but I'm kind of philosophically against
    changing my personality with drugs.

We'll see if you're getting better at it, if you ever get to a lower weight
than the one at which you stalled. Quantitative assessments trump
