Oh, we do indeed have Ikea in the States. My girlfriend is an Ikea addict.
I remember when the first few Ikea's in the US opened, one was in Pittsburgh. My
reaction was this will never fly in this town. Boy was I ever wrong. The place
thrives. More than I ever expected from the Pittsburgh crowd.
Now as transplant way south my only hope is they build the one in the SE Florida
area and that it catches on enough they come to the Gulf Coast.
The Sarasota area in my opinion would be perfect, lots of x-Europeans and plenty
of people with disposable income, plus those looking for good furniture at a
decent price.
I have a kitchen set thats one of those folding tables and 4 chairs I purchased
from them 10 years ago and 3 moves later its still going. Admittedly it gets
little actual use as I use mostly the bar/counter or the tv tables since 99% of
the time its just one person. Thats why I love that table it folds up and can be
put out of the way. Unfortunately that still leaves me 4 chairs to deal with,
but nothings perfect.
A trip to Ikea is worth it just to browse and get those fantastic HUGE cinnamon
rolls. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!
