That is a pretty cheap price. I would also be skeptical. You can't beat
the old stainless ones. Sinks are a pain to change not to mention the
price of a plumber. You have to look at those things a long time.. choose
carefully.

You have to be wary of net reviews, I notice a lot of the same people
seem to appear in every
review list. Anyway I'm partial to stainless steel kitchen sinks...
there are some beauts... go to Elkay.com

Right now I'm searching for a bagless vacuum cleaner to keep in my
basement, something not to expensive (under $125) to clean painted
wooden stairs and a painted concrete floor... something light weight
with on board tools. There are so many to pick from. And I don't
want a shop vac...
already have one, no good for stairs. Reading the Reviews is hopeless,
for every one that says it's great there's another that say it stinks.

Thanks for the input. I'm putting in a new countertop; my sink needs
replaced so it makes sense to do it now. I don't want to screw up.

You think $260 US is cheap? I really had no idea about sink prices until I
went to look for one. BTW I'm in Canada - the same sink here is about $450
plus 15% tax.

as big and deep as possible. And just as important if not moreso is
the faucet... typically the faucet can cost as much or more than the
sink. I bought a small American Standard pedestal sink for a half
bath, cost like $150, the Kohler single lever faucet cost nearly twice
that. The plumber cost as much as the fixtures... there was no sink
there before so of course was a lot more involved than just a swap.

My kitchen sink is a an Elkay, with a Kohler faucet. It's a huge sink,
8" deep.. I call it a sink and a half, becaue I can't find a single
Rubbermaid mat to fit, I need to use two, one large and one small.
Looks stupid but no one makes a mat to fit, and I searched for hours.

Stainless steel, and get a good one, not the $59 pieces of [censored] you find in
some of the big home stores. Other materials are gimmicks. Stainless is made
to actually be used, and you can clean with anything you want & it'll be
happy.

I agree. A sink is a functional item, not a decorative item. You pay a lot
for a good SS sink but it will last forever and take anything you can dish
out.

This is soooo weird. I went on the Elkay Canada site and the Home Office
Canada is in my hometown (Brampton, Ont). And the faucet was the reason
that I thought black would work. I bought a faucet on sale a year ago. It
was brushed nickel with some black on it. I couldn't find a stainless steel
sink to match (probably didn't try hard enough) so I though perhaps black
was the way to go.

Stay away from the Fantom bagless vaccuums. Prior to "reorginization"
(about 6-7 years ago) they had a quality product - now it is a rip off.

I can't speak for this specific sink, but I can say I had a black sink once
and will never have one again. I found I was constantly wiping at it,
because it always looked dirty, even when I knew it wasn't.

I can't speak for this specific sink, but I can say I had a black sink once
and will never have one again. I found I was constantly wiping at it,
because it always looked dirty, even when I knew it wasn't.

And if you have hard water it's a hundred times worse. Owning anything
shiny black is like owning a black car

I'll kick in another vote for a high quality stainless steel sink - the
largest and deepest you can afford. Had one in our old house and miss
it. Our new home came with a great big, 10 year old, high/low double,
top mounted Kohler white kitchen sink & I can't wait to replace it with
an under the counter mounted stainless sink when we redo the counters
next year.

Seriously, in our last house we had all black appliances. I would do it
again.

I had a friend who's bathroom had a black tub, sink and loo. The water
spots were horrible and it never looked as good as it sounded like it

Retail 260$ US for a kitchen sink is not top of line for sure. It is more
than most builders would do in an apartment. If that is all the money you
can spend..and you need a sink.. go for it. I have a Elkay now. I have had
a Franke in the recent past and I was really pleased with that one. Each
to their own.. some people buy cheap tires.. I wouldn't.
