  1. I order some bits a few weeks ago from Roseversand.de after someone
suggested them. So far nothing has arrived and the omens do not look
good (details below). Before I take it up with the credit card company
I'm just wondering if anyone else has had any problems.

    Tony

Ordered on Aug 2 and got same day e-mail confirmation of the order

E-mailed on Aug 7 asking whether it had shipped
Got sameday response saying it had shipped on the 5th and delivery c 1 week
Asked for shipping company and tracking number on Aug 7
Got reply on Aug 9 with DHL Tracking number
DHL did not recognise the tracking number
Requested they checked the number and got by return confirmation it was
    correct.
Asked them to sort it out with DHL. Get reply saying it was a DHL
"standard packet" and so has no tracking number but not to worry it
should arrive by the 13th. This was the last communication from them

Have e-mailed several times between Aug 18-23 saying it has not arrived
    and got silence in return.

Presuming you paid by credit card you can probably claim the money back from
    the bank.

    Pain in the bum though

Not worried about the money - the credit card company will sort it out.
Right pain though as its kiboshed my plans to rebuild the tandem
wheels over August and now I've got to sort out ordering the bits again
from somewhere else. Pity, their prices were very good but I guess you
get what you pay for :-(

I'm sorry I made the suggestion now. Someone on another forum said they
were good. I was looking forward to placing an order myself but will have
    to rethink.

I've mentioned them too before [quite recently in fact, in the
'Dynohubs' thread], not recommended exactly, but suggested. Maybe it's
a good policy to say if one has had dealings with any company that
gets linked. Pretty obvious stuff really.

Yes indeed. I did that in my initial reply.

Tony, have you specifically asked Roserversand to either refund or resend?
Personally, I could tolerate some delay but not an outright refusal to do
    that.

I've had three problem-free transactions with delivery in 7-10 days (to
France) - but my address is only three lines long. I haven't had to test
their complaints-handling procedure. I'm about to place a fourth order.

  8. I've had parcel post from Germany take 2 weeks or more, but not from this
    crowd.

Roseversand is a real big mailorder company in Germany. Not everyone lives
near a decent bikeshop overthere, so mailordering is very common in Germany.
I believe that Roseversand is about the largest one in the country. I live
accross the German-Dutch border and go there regularly. It is an enormous
shop with good stuff and good service. In Dutch cycling newsgroup I have
never heard any complaint about them, so I am really surprised.

Consider posting your issue in a German newsgroup like news:de.rec.fahrrad,
or in the Dutch news:nl.fiets. This may attract additional comments

    regards,

    Bert L.

    No problem, these things happen.

Personally, I could tolerate some delay but not an outright refusal to do

I e-mailed them on the 18th to say it had not been delivered and asking
for advice - they could for example have a delivery signature showing it
was delivered to the wrong address and just needed popping round and
collecting. They have not replied and they have not replied to three
subsequent chaser e-mails, having been very prompt in their replies
initially. I don't mind so much about things going wrong - its going to
happen sometime to any organisation - but a refusal to communicate when
it does annoys me. I sent them an e-mail yesterday requiring a response
by today failing which I will call the credit card company for a refund.

Thanks for all the comments and advice. Sounds like maybe they are
    normally not a bad bunch.

I had a bit of a similar problem (the package just vanished). It wasn't Rose
Versand's fault but DHLs, since they seem to require a "City" address, even
if you don't live in one. What they did was to ship the packet halfway to
the UK, decide they couldn't ship it any further and sent it back to Rose
with the note about the "nonexistent address". This latter step took ages.
Once the address was rectified, the package arrived quite speedily.

Try ringing them up before you call in the card company.

I have dealt several times with Rose and there has never been any reason
to complain about them (and have never heard other people _in Germany_
complain). IMO they are one of the most serious and trustworthy
bicycling mail-order companies in Germany. Their prices seem to be
O.K. but not extremely cheap. At least not that cheap to warrant bad
service. I suspect your problem to be caused by the parcel
service. Nevertheless, choosing an appropriate parcel service for UK
deliveries would be part of a good overall service.

Phoned them today and they apologised for not replying to my e-mails and
promised to call/e-mail me tomorrow. I will wait and see.

E-mailed me this morning to say DHL have lost the package (quite how DHL
know I am not sure as they have been singularly unable to track it!) and
    they are resending it today.

I'll put it down to one of those things that happen to even the best
    organisations on occassions.

If they were they'd be smarter than they are now. They once delivered a piece
of electronics addressed to me in Cambridge to a man in Cornwall. He signed for
it and kept it. I called DHL and asked what they were going to do about it,
they said that as long as they had a signature they didn't intend to do
anything! The vendor had to send out another box. They can't have been
    pleased.

Trouble with delivering to the UK is that there is very little in the way of
reliable options for delivery, no matter how good the vendor is.

So if a million DHL monkeys delivered a million packets, would one of
them be delivered to the correct address?

No, no, you have it all wrong. I have it officially from DHL that it
was not them. It didn't go by DHL, it went by Securicor Omega Express
and I need to take it up with them. Lets see, Securicor Omega Express
....... ah yes here it is "DHL Securicor Omega Express".

    Oh dear!

DHL are imbeciles. My experience with them has been 100% bad. Avoid at all costs.

No. That would be against (I think) the third law of thermodynamics.
