We're having our big dinner tomorrow afternoon.
I've got the cranberry-orange relish, the watergate salad, the sour
cream apple pie, and the pumpkin pecan pie made. Darned apple pie
drooled all over the bottom of the oven. I thought I had one of those
doughnut shaped thingies for collecting pie ooze, but apparently I
don't. Maybe in the basement, still unpacked.
I'll be cutting bread into cubes after my nap. James Beard's recipe
calls for fresh bread cubes. I'll bet I could saute the onions and
celery tonight, too. That's the ticket!
There's so much to be done, both with cooking and with cleaning. I
figured it might be a nice touch to have clean sheets on the bed when
our guests arrive. <G> When it's just Kidzilla, I don't change them
every time.
I'm considering boxing up a lot of stuff that's just taking up space
and hiding it in the basement. Yeah, I think I'll have to do that.
For the first time, I'm hauling out my recently-purchased tablecloth.
The tablecloth matches my dining room curtains. I don't recall what
the style is called. It's got cut-outs in a pattern around the edges.
Anyway, there will be pictures.
And I believe this is only the second or third time I've used my good
china.
I'm nervous. Haven't really entertained in eons. I want to do it
right, but I'm sure I'll louse something up. LOL!
Monday, my niece and her roommate are going to help decorate the
Christmas tree after I vacuum the branches. We never took last year's
artificial tree down.
Okay, 1/4 of my nap is already over. Better hit the sheets.
ARGH!
