He can doing anything he wants in a race so far.
It will be interesting to see if anyone can hang with him when he goes this year in P-R or Flanders. MSR is another story, I mean he'll win of course but it'll come down to a sprint.

Nice work by Landis and takes the yellow jersey... he is good form.... hope not to soon thou...... 🙂

Landis wants the win: "I knew I had good legs after my victory in the Tour of California but to take the jersey so early in the race comes as a bit of a surprise. I will do my utmost to keep the jersey now for it is very important for the team and the sponsor."

Landis looked impressive - wasn't wearing leggings or armwarmers either.

Boonen struggled today : not his type of terrain.
DC had Rubiera and Azcevedo chasing well.

I was glad for the Italian to pip it at the end - I thought he raced well.
Of course Duffield called it early - giving the stage to landis.
Kelly got it right as usual.

Boonen may not be a great climber, but I have to say that I am mightly impressed that he came in only 5 some odd minutes down on today's course. Really, that is a fine finish for him.

This may be a break out year for Frank Schleck.

Tom Boonens performance was impressive for a sprinter, coming in 36th on the day, question is was he lying when he said he wasn't going to try hard today?

DC are now at the top of the team classification, but are probably out of the running as Phonak is strong enough to protect Landis, and Landis himself is strong enough to cover any of the other main contenders.

Bobby Julich seems to be right out of contention now.........

Boonan is great and he should have another stage win at Rasteau.

Landis looks strong this year and I believe this is his race to lose.

I know one thing, Phonak and Landis are going to make the Tour interesting this year.

Speaking of Phonak - Landis was very impressive.
Also Axel Merckx performed well today : they could be a good combo.

It was great watching Floyd attack on the climb with 2 km to go.
It was right after the Eurosport commentators stated "Floyd is going up the hill fast with a group of five but he takes turns and then goes back, he is not an attacking rider, he follows wheels, he needs to attack and do damage like he did in the Alps in 2004 when he rode for Armstrong."

Not 1 minute later, the Italian RAI guys are yelling Landis attaca, Landis attaca etc etc

the peloton was very apathetic - there was just no reaction to the Landis attack until it was too late, as if they really couldn't be bothered.

One question - isn't Landis peaking a little soon if he wants to be a real force come July?

yes he might well be peaking too early but money motivates, his team is currently trying to sign a sponsor for 2007 onwards.

Then Moncoutie was dropped. Then it was like four or five guys, the Floyd got up out of the saddle and attacked. I know because I saw the whole thing, I dont need to look at the race report.

Chain I believe. He seems almost unbeatable. It will be a great match up with Bettini at his side going at the Italian and Zabel ....... Any race that will come down to a sprint will be exciting......
We are in for a great season ........It's too bad that the Grand Tours will interupt a perfectly good racing season.
Does anyone know what the finishing stretch will be at the Worlds this fall? What is the course like ???? Maybe Zabel will get his Worlds jersey .....

their live coverage of the Giro is waaaaaaay better than anything Eurosport can do. a lot more emotional/passionate.
