But my opinions matter because I am highly intelligent and your opinions
don't matter since you are stuck at the high school level. If and when I
want to know what high school kids think, then I will defer to you.

We hermits are unjustly castigated. I have always liked to be alone. Is this
such a great sin? I have spent my life listening to the great masterpieces
of Beethoven et al. I have simply never had any use for people. They have
always proven themselves to be a pain in the the royal neck and ass. I
prefer to contemplate the eternal verities unencumbered by any actual
relationships with real people. What is so wrong about this?

Yes, actually it does! I have risen above the common run of mankind. You
need to listen to me most carefully to get a perspective that you would
otherwise never get. I have no ego at all and I do not care what others
think of me. I know what I think of myself and that is all that matters to
me. The rest of you can benefit greatly from my lack of ego. Poor Jimbo can
never escape the drags of his own ego. He is very much like Ed Gin that way.

Here it is again for all of you who cannot read carefully:

An opinion regarding your opinions. Could anything possibly be more
worthless?

If you have no use for people why bother with them here. As ususal,
your rationalization make no sense.

You don't have an ego??? Thanks for the best joke that I've heard in
quite some time. The only way you will ever escape your ego is by
death ... an event that the ARBR readership will celebrate. You still
are operating from the basic misconception that the readership can
benefit from your alleged wisdom whereas what they coud benefit by is
your absence. Begone ... TROLL!!!

I do not bother with people anymore here than I do in real life. I am only
bothering (ever so slightly) with their artifacts, i.e., what they write in
their messages.

I could not kid about myself and others the way I do if I were the least bit
insecure in my own ego. You should forget about your own sensitivities and
concentrate on others for a change. You would find it quite liberating. I
only get concerned with myself when something important is at stake. Nothing
important is ever at stake on Usenet.

Some people would rather complain and post revisionist history about
past events.

The Google archives will reveal that political arguments occurred on
alt.rec.bicycles.recumbent before I posted my first message.

Mr. Sherman, who knows more about ARBR than any other person extant, is
quite correct of course. There have not been any prolonged political
discussions on ARBR for quite some time now and I hope it stays that way.
But I am always at the ready to take on any liberal fool who thinks ARBR is
his to do with as he pleases. We NEVER want to return to the days when
liberals were given free reign on this newsgroup.

Both Mr. Sherman and I were and are primarily responders. It is a good thing
we are or we would take over and dominate this newsgroup. But we only try to
keep ARBR intelligent and do not allow fools to take it over, like they have
so many other newsgroups.

Ed,

Look in a mirror. You are the fool who thinks ARBR is his to do with

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't that what the All-Time High Poster
to ARBR thread was about. What a hypocrite.

So how was your vacation when I was on vacation? I'm back at least for

Truth hurts. I meant what I said and I said what I meant. You deserve
it ... you earned it and you shouldn't be deprived of it. What does
around comes aroud. Why is it that when this happens the victimizer
claims to be the victim and the game just isn't fun anymore?

Jim,
Turn on your spell checker, please. Don't give anyone even the ammo of a
typo on this group.

Hi Bill,

Did you have anyone in particular in mind ;^) ??? The problem is that
I don't use a newsreader, but probably should. I just use the Google
Groups facility, so I am disadvantaged being without a spell checker.
On the other hand, those that use typos for ammunition generally have
gotten the intended message regardless, although it bugs me to see that
I've mistyped something. Perhaps I should just cut and paste into Word
and use its spell checker. Had I done so, I wouldn't have made the
above mistake s... now corrected (does/goes & aroud/around).

Jim,
I use Mozilla Thunderbird, both in Windows (2000 right now), and with
Linux. It has a basic spell checker but some of the Internet things like
ROTFL catch it up, as do any technical words. Sometimes when I am groggy
and can't sleep I may make a grammar error that it won't catch, like
their, there, they're. I could drop out and use Word or Open Office but
I really don't take posting on here as a literary masterpiece kind of
thing. There are only about a half dozen nit-pickers and one nasty jerk,
whom I need not name, and it isn't Dolan. This is just verbal sparring
with the fingers, in between working and riding/running, whatever.
I am only on RBM but somebody keeps making these darn cross posts.
Recumbents look interesting, but I do too much off road to consider one.
..soc is OK, too, but I tend to get into the 'misc' threads a lot.
Basically it is a time killer.

For the record, that second sentence was intended to be an if-then, not
a statement of fact. I don't know the group well enough to say anyone
is or is not a troll. I guess. I dunno, this Dolan chap does seem to
be much more noise than signal. Onwards;

> Some people would rather complain and post revisionist history about

Oh sure, arguing, changing history, all that is good fun. The first
few messages I read seemed to be in a dispairing tone, and made me
wonder if perhaps a liberal application of kf might raise the happiness
level.

> The Google archives will reveal that political arguments occurred on

My point was more that if anyone, me, you, whomever, is galling anyone,
him, her, whoever, so much that they feel the need to have long threads
about how much me or you or whomever are bugging him or her or whoever,
him or her or whoever might be better served by killfiling me or you or
whomever than endlessly arguing, since that's not called "feeding the
troll" for nothing. If you see what I mean.

I will only take someone to task for spelling and grammatical errors if and
when his level of assholeness exceeds all bounds. Jim McNamara does not yet
fall into that category, but he is getting close on occasion.

I will look in on RBM to hijack various topics over to ARBR which is where I
am located 100% of the time. I do this because ARBR is such a small group
that we need some outside input. The kind of topics I steal and post my
comments to are mostly always off-topic which can be entertaining for anyone
to read no matter what groups you are normally on.

Every day of my life is a vacation since I passed the age of 30 some 40
years ago and stopped being a slave to work and a job. However, I do not
recommend this course for most folks. Only very superior types like myself
are capable of it. The rest of you, if you tried it, would drive yourselves
crazy for want of something to do.

So you are rendering a 'service'? Some of these threads go so way off
topic it is impossible to keep up when only reading part time. Sometimes

It is extremely important that we keep our sense of humor when on these
newsgroups. I will admit when I first came to Usenet I had a wrong
impression of it. I thought it was for serious discussions of serious
issues. I could not have been more wrong. Usenet is all about who can be the
biggest clown. It is a huge mistake to take any of this at all seriously.

Ed Dolan, more noise than signal? You have got that exactly backwards. Once
you get on my wave length, you will quickly realize that you are in the
realm of the gods and have left this mundane earth far behind you.

The tone you detect is what I have freely given to this newsgroup, otherwise
known as ARBR. I do not even charge for my civilizing services, such is the
largess of my spirit.

Nay, it is far, far better to feed the troll so everyone can be amused and
not fall into despair. I once knew a guy who fell into despair and he went
down to his dirt floor cellar and hung himself from a rafter. Minnesota and
Wisconsin are notorious for these type of suicides in the dead of winter.
Only the nation of Finland is worse in this regard.

Well, if someone is replying to one Billy Baka, the odds are about 10
to 1 that it will be perceived as an insult.
