Quoted message said:Ditto. TVP took my complaint against a bus driver, who assaulted me with
his bus, very seriously. They offered me the option of them looking into
prosecution, though they advised that it might not be successful, or of
them speaking to him and giving him a warning. I took the latter option
and they did speak to him.
Of the various things that I've reported on this road, including a taxi
driver getting out to threaten me and a bus driver actually clipping me, the
only incident that the Police have taken action over was when a passenger
actually got out of a van to assault me, after the van had hit my bike and
slightly bent my front wheel. All that they took action on, desite the fact
that in my opinion the use of the van as a weapon of assault was way more
serious than getting out and pushing me sideways off the road, was the
latter assault. Said action included a warning, nothing more, despite the
fact that the van driver had ignored the sign saying give way, had hit me
intentionally with his van (he'd seen me, he'd stopped, he started again),
had damaged my bike, had refused to give details for insurance, and had
driven off after an accident. All of this with witnesses. I would have
assumed that to do that in your work van wearing clothes that identify where
you work, in front of witnesses, was really stupid; clearly that isn't the
case because here at least you can get away with all of that.
Perhaps you guys have more cycle-sympathetic police forces.
