Why that particular w/e? ISTR that some at least of the anniversary

That particular w/e because I will be there. I'm not making a special

The Midge at St Marys Loch are few and far between, I have never known them
be a problem. Also, jsut to be topical, Ticks, I have never seen one of
these in the Southern Uplands, I am sure they exist, just never personally
seen one there!

Hmm. My only trips to the Southern Uplands were both plagued by
midges, and that was in June...

I suppose it all comes down to your own experiances, I was once in a shop on
Princess Street when some bloke come in claiming a "White Out" outside, I
looked out of the window and could make out cars on the road, I thought to
myself "he has never encounted a full Cairngorm Blizzard"

Of course there will be a few nipping wee insects, but lets not give them
the status of Bothy Midge!

Not only do you hate Dogs, and people with Dogs, you also have a caravan!

Back to your question, Its just a bit of grassy land that slopes down to the
Loch of the Lowes, Its free and its really handy for Tibbie Shiels Inn,
theirs often quite a few tents and campervans parked up on it.

However if Tibbie has now got a campsite, pressumably they will be providing
toilets and showers, so for 3 quid a night.....

Have you ever seen the film Alien? ..... I believe the creature in that is
just a supersized version of the bothy midge!

Anyway, to more pleasant creatures, I have three families of these in my

My Marilyn estimates are as follows, and they are rough! Correct me if I'm
wrong, but I am no expert in that area. All should be within easy reach of
the campsite.

Corbetts: White Coombe, Hart Fell, Broad Law

Marilyns:

From Campsite (Long circular walk!): The Wiss, Ward Law, Law kneis, Cacra
Hill, Turners Cleuch Law.

From Etrrick Water: Capel fell, Ettrick Pen, Croft Head, Scaw'd Fell

Near A78: Deuchar Law. Dun Rig

Saturday night, in fact! We car camped last night at the little hamlet
of Llanarmon DC, where we consumed huge quantities of assorted beers
and a gigantic portion of lamb in the pubs. Walking around Llanrhaeadr
yesterday - very beautiful.

Having looked up the sites in that area, Honey cottage has St*t*c caravans,
which I try to avoid, I will have to call off for this expedition. The
only alternative for a van is a Caravan Club Certified Location, which
will not take tents.

My back is really too old for tents any more :-(
