If what you say is true and you have had the original Salk vaccine,
then you too are a clock ticking. Just had the feeling you were much
younger than this. No one I know that is my age has their head in the
sand anymore. Too much illness in the real world. I am more
alternative than many of my friends. Life experience just made it
that way. They however do not turn their noses up at alternative
medicine.

Sorry to have to disagree about vaccines but I do - yeah I know, I've
heard all the arguments pro and con and I would not recommend anything
to anybody. People have to start taking responsibility for themselves
so that they have only themselves to blame when they are wrong or

mass vaccination program. I can still see the lines of weeping kids
and smell the iodine. I also remember the girl in the iron lung in the

The trials were worse: I got a lot more shots, and they had to
hold me down to get blood samples, and I had no inhibitions about
kicking, scratching and biting. My parents, wisely, stayed out
of the fray and consoled me afterwards with Dairy Queen cones (a
rare treat for us). I wondre who consoled the doc I scored a
direct hit to the groin on ... and if he ever had kids.

Aside from an aversion to needles - of the see one pass out cold
kind - which has subsided into a mere qureasiness at the sight of
them aimed at me, the only detectable effect is a polio antibody
titre well in excess of the usual. My immunology profs were
amazed to see that it could stay so high for so many years.
