Did You Ride Today?

I hate that you are having such a crappy time Steve. Maybe next year you can go somewhere cool and scenic. Note sarcasm.

Steve, go hard and never look back! Race safely and have a great time!

78 degrees. Much cooler and the humidity went down to normal. Wind at 8 MPH.

Just a little 22-mile ride. Numbers are weak, but it was fun! 825; of vertical on an easy course.

At least my memory isn't failing yet! LOL! I thought it looked familiar.

It must be nice to escape Winter in OZ. The one time of year Belgium has better weather!

Rain this afternoon in Ohio. The humidity is still near 90% after the first storm cells moved through the area. I would head outside, but the radar shows more rain in about an hour. Meh! I'm going to sweat my ass off on the trainer.

My wife said it rained hard while I was in the basement, riding in London on Zwift.

1-1/2 hours worth. Only 1000 riders in the game. Many were Australians escaping the ultra-cold 48 degree F temperatures of Winter. Er...wait. Wut? That ain't cold! I always thought most cyclists from down under were hard men of the South! Had a couple guys from Western Australia tell me they get too used to the 100+ degree temps to go out much in Winter.

Kicked it in the ass to stay about 30 seconds ahead of some random guy (American) that was behind me for the first 28 miles. Then I caught and passed a group of three females and a male. The Japanese gal jumped hard for my wheel and it was on like Donkey Kong! The next 6 miles were a blur. I remember giving her a Ride On! and a wave of the hand as I exited the game and finished my session.

Lordy! She was plenty fast and only when I jumped for a faster group of four riders that came around us did I even gap her.

A great workout. Again, better than I generally get on the road solo.

75 degrees, way overcast and the wind a mild 7 MPH.

Mowed and mowed and mowed. I only had time to hit Zwift for a little better than an hour and it was fast & furious. Had to pound the miles out in a hurry!

A great jam session working on sustained top end with accelerations into the red thrown in just to make it hurt a little more. Short, sweet and a quality ride.

Only 1100 riders in the game and I spent almost all of the ride solo.

67 degrees and rain all day from pre-dawn to dusk. Rain forecast for tonight and tomorrow and possibly on Sunday also. Now you now why I had to get the mowing at least mostly done! Still have a couple hours worth to do, but that's going to have to wait for the next dry spell.

Wind at 9 to 14 MPH this afternoon.

I hit the trainer for just under 2 hours and did Zwift's Richmond 2015 UCI World Championship Course for 3 laps plus a little free riding. The three stiff climbs per lap hurt more than they should. I can see how Sagan powered up the last long climb to the line for the win. Strength of a puncheur suit this course...not me!

Richmond is always a parade of riders. The 10-mile length is packed with fast moving groups of riders even with only 900 riders in the game. Those groups are constantly forming and reforming and overtaking other groups while being overtaken by more groups. It's a fast course and has been described as the both the most boring and hated course on Zwift and also the very best race course on Zwift.

I like it in small doses. Once a month is good for me.

Anyways, as usual, it was a hammerfest. I was slow to warm up and that might have helped me survive the next 2-1/2 laps at close to full bore. I was constantly in over my head...another characteristic of my Richmond rides. I got a Ride On! from some fast gal and she and I cranked off 3 or 4 miles before we hit the first climb and I got dropped like a stone as she moved up the grade that approached the start of the timed climb like a pro.

I paired with a guy for maybe 5 or 6 miles as we jumped from group to group, trading pulls. I unintentionally dropped him on the same hill on the second lap and then pushed it over the next two climbs as I was fully warmed up and not yet blown up.

Managed to hold it together through the third lap and tried to convince my legs that I was Peter Sagan as I suffered up the last climb to the finish line.

Another fun workout! The worst part of Summer training indoors is the sweating. 5 fans running a top speed, a towel and ice water combined with A/C and a dehumidifier still doesn't stop the sweat at high exertion levels.

Rain.
All.
Day.

Light rain...moderate rain...heavy rain...rain. Wind 9 to 14 MPH. With rain.
Did I mention it was raining? A lot. Lately.

I hit the trainer for 2 hours and 1 minute. Slower than yesterday. My legs just would not come around for more than a mile or two at a time and even then they were only at 70%-80%.

Climbed (virtually!) Box Hill and did a few decent sprints, but the power was not turning on today. Legs must be toast.

Only 930 riders in the game and despite riding one of the faster London courses not a lot of riders were passing me. Must be Summer and sunny everywhere else on the planet.

Damned RAIN!

75 and sunny as I did a bunch of afternoon field work. Wind going 10 to 17 MPH all day.

Finally at 5 PM I threw a leg over for a quick 25-mile ride...with dark blue storm clouds closing in behind me.

I made it the first 12 miles to the next town down the line just in time to take shelter under a churches side entrance roof. The bike and I stayed dry during the 15-minute downpour. The old 'big drops' type. It hard and fast and moved out just as fast.

I killed 15 more minutes waiting on most of the water to run off the roads and headed back.

Picked up a small rock chip in the front tire that chewed its way through to the inner tube. Made it back to the truck with about 30 PSI in it. Just finished throwing two new tubes and Michelin Pro 4 Service Course V2 tires on the Wilier. Cleaned the chain and detailed the bike.

1275' of climbing on a not-so-fun outing!

31 Miles in 78 degree sunshine! The wind was 6 to 10 MPH.

Just a little under 1400' of climbing fun on a punchy course. The legs came around, finally! Despite a couple of headwind sections the numbers looked good.

A fun ride To a local resort lake. If I would have had the time I would have liked to add a lap of the lake.

Of course it rained today at 4:30 PM.

The wind was down at 5 to 8 MPH and the sky turned nasty looking around 1 PM. I felt a few rain drops at 3 PM and figured it was a lost cause to try and hurry up an outdoor ride and get drowned.

As it started pounding down the water in large drops I headed for the trainer and did 1 hour and 50 minutes on Zwift. Did the Volcano Climb Route and the Volcano Flat Route two times plus a Volcano Circuit lap.

The legs were fried from yesterday's climbing effort, but I managed to hold a good tempo for the final 16 miles of the workout. 1025 to 1225 riders in the game and for some reason or other pretty much everyone was flying..

I didn't even try to ride outside. The radar said heavy weather moving through and it was correct. 5:30 PM heavy rain followed by sunshine and then a nasty 7 PM rain coming down in sheets that were blowing sideways by gusts of around 20 MPH.

I hit the trainer for another 1 Hr. 50 Min. session. Boring. Completed the California 800-mile challenge. Boring. Rode the Road To Ruins, the Volcano Circuit, the Volcano Flat Route 2X. Boring.

Semi-fast session. Legs were not 100%, but not bad either. Hustled up the virtual climbs and cooled my jets on the flats. Towed a couple guys around and generally had a little fun sweating my ass of with 6 fans roaring.

Yes, I did. It was just a short ride to enjoy the nice view of the neighborhood. It was a relaxing time getting to see people and the surroundings.

Yep, about midnight to 1AM, I woke up at 11pm craving for food and it was windy outside so I took off for a ride and a food run, it's a short run about 5 kilometers to the steamed pork bun shop lol. Ate a couple at the shop and bought some for the family. It was a delicious ride lol.

Too many projects to do. I was in Knoxville last year for the first one.

I here ya! Hell, the mowing, alone, is enough to kill a man this wet year! I thought last Summer was bad...all cool and wet. This year keeping up with the grass has been a ball-buster and I've never seen so many houses for sale with acres of grass and landscaping to maintain.

Matter of fact, a gal I've known since grade school is selling their beautiful home and bought a sub-1 acre home outside of town to get away from the insane time and labor drain.
