Did You Ride Today?

40 miles, high of 98. Trying to even out the wife's tan lines.

Big difference from today's ride pics vs yesterday's pics I took of her. :D

Much cooler today at 73 degrees. We had an early afternoon downpour...again. Maybe 1/4" of rain in 10 minutes. Then the sun came out and the humidity went up again.

Just a quick 18-mile dash trying to keep some bigger gears turning over and only 500' of climbing on the course. The legs still aren't doing max output, but they feel good.

There was local flooding yesterday. Facebook was full of pics and videos, but it didn't last long and most of the creeks and streams are back to normal today.

This really has been a wet Summer. There's lots of acres that went un-planted because the farmers just get their equipment into them and field flooding and ponding drowned out more acres.

Yeah, I rode good. Right out my door I have a good route that I never did in whole before, 33 miles with 3500 feet of climbing. Last year 1800mi. We get winter here but I got off to an early start and was hoping to do 2K. That was the goal. I got a little off track and am about even with last year YTD(953mi)

I like riding at first light for solitude and no traffic, and later light and coolness make me lose interest. Sunday I did 52 which was longest so far. (note no cars passed me until 20 miles in!, had to say it) and it was hilly! 32 very hilly today and shooting for another 50 Thursday. Maybe I'm on my way to 2K. Time is ticking...

Still oppressive here but I may need an overcoat Saturday. Only going to get to 83 with lower humidity. Heat index has been well over 100 lately. Low tonight around 80.

I was up in Cleveland this morning and stopped in at Performance Bikes for some gel, blocks and a Lezyne CO2 head.

Just time to squeeze 18 miles in. Mowing. It sucks! This year the grass hasn't slowed down at all. Very similar to the summer of 2014.

Hardly any wind and only 55' of climbing, I pulled a chest muscle yesterday and deep breaths are kind of painful. OK...it hurts.

I still buried the heart rate and maxed out at 182 with a 3-mile stretch at 173-176. Had a pickup behind me and he didn't want to pass so I decided to put on a show. Lit the afterburners and stayed hard on it until he turned off after three little sharp climbs and a fast descent into a valley. Felt like a good workout and the power numbers looked better than they have been.

77 degrees and sunny with the wind a low 3 to 8 MPH.

Sadly, 3 more hours of mowing so I only had time for 21 miles. A little easier tempo this afternoon, but still around 800' of climbing. I felt good and the Wilier rolled along smoothly and silently. Another fun ride!

Got home and gauged the chain. Still good on the 0.5% scale! Yay!

83 degrees and sunny for most of the morning and early afternoon. The clouds started rolling in and the humidity went up, up and up. You can guess what the late afternoon fore was, right? Rain! And more rain tonight. And more rain tomorrow!

Sometimes it feels like I'm living in Seattle. Except we don't have urban hipsters and the nearest Starbucks is an hour away.

Another short 21-mile sprint ride at a decent power level and the heart rate was showing full recovery.

650' of climbing, so rolling to flat over a reversed direction course I seldom use. The wind was only 5 to 8 MPH, but it blew in that rain.

The last two miles were in a light drizzle that turned into a steady light rain as I pulled back into my driveway in the truck. The neighbor, a farmer, rode up on his dirt bike as I unloaded the bike and gear. We both got soaked BS'ing at the end of the drive like a couple of dummies with a nice dry garage only a couple hundred feet away. Yeah...we're idiots here in Ohio!

Oh how I love my half day Fridays during the summer. I like it so much I think I'll extend them into the Fall. Was on the road at 10:30 and the temps were in the 70's with a changing wind throughout the ride. I ended with a speck over 50 miles, and found a great little road that just made me smile for some reason. Here is a little glimpse of it.

80 degrees and time to taper off for the weekend. Sunny with the wind running a steady 10 to 12 MPH and picking up to 20 + MPH as I climbed off the bike. A front was rolling in with just a little threat of rain that never materialized.

Only 16 miles of almost flat terrain. Barely 500' of climbing and all of that was pretty gradual stuff.

It was weird. I was trying to just peg it back and do some sight seeing. Went too fast for a good recovery. Slower tomorrow.

25 miles in cool 72 degree sunshine. The wind was up at 12 to 21 MPH and gusts to 28 MPH, so that was a little on the high side.

Just under 1200' of climbing.

I cooled my jets on the climbs and only blasted out one good 3-mile TT with a couple of cars backed up behind me. Nice ride. No sweating and very little work.

Tomorrow I'll do a 100-mile ride that has 6000+ feet of climbing with some friends. It's supposed to be 81 degrees for a high tomorrow, sunny and wind running 6 to 8 MPH. PERFECT! Let's ride!

41 miles with Gina, 16.3 average, average temp of 89 degrees. Started alone then ran into some friends on a tandem so I worked with them fighting through the windy section. Nice day, Gina did well for not having a lot of miles in her lately.

104 miles in temperatures that ranged from 60 degrees at the start to 94 degrees on on part of the course. Mostly in the 70's to mid-80's though. Sunny with the wind at 7 to 12 MPH. The wind was only slightly noticeable at the start, but by the early afternoon it was a factor.

The climbing was non-stop on a very rolling course. 5650' of climbing and I did the most difficult climb twice because I and a friend got lost and hit it 40 miles into the ride as we got back on the correct route. I hit it again at the 77-mile mark. It felt good to climb this much. The legs held up well.

My buddy bailed at the 70 mile mark as he lives in the area and wasn't in shape enough to keep up with the continuous climbing. Up and down and up and down from start to finish.

The day was beautiful! Perfect for a nice long ride. The Wilier rode flawlessly and I did my best to make it shine.

85 degrees and sunny today. The humidity was low and the wind was only 8 to 9 MPH. Perfect! Let's ride!

I just did a quick 14-mile ride on east, gently rolling terrain to shake the legs out. They felt dead when I got on board and took a long time to feel anything like normal. No power. No leg speed. Low heart rate. Flat power. Yeah. Yesterday was a good workout.

Stuck to the back roads and just rolled it at a medium tempo. I climbed the little hills easily and that kind of surprised me.

Nice summer day 85 degrees with a very light wind and moderate humidity. Had a crazy second half of my day at work and didn't have a bike in work today. So it could have been an easy day to just go home and go lay on the back deck and take a nap. To not make that happen I unlock the door and head right to the bike cave a grab a bike before I do anything else. With the temps being hot if figured I would put the bike path in my ride route, because when it's hot like this very few people are out on it. I ended up seeing more wild turkeys than people and rolled out a very nice 25 miles.

84 degrees and sunny with the wind a mild 5 to 9 MPH.

32 miles of hills with 1500' of climbing. Kept the heart rate high, the RPM's up and the legs are just about back after Sunday's long effort.

It was a beautiful day to do some hard work! The bike ran flawlessly and silently. The sun kept me at the perfect temperature and the power flowed easily. I stayed relaxed and yet focused on the climbing and seemed to be in the zone up all the steep ones. A good workout, for sure! I enjoyed every minute of it!

I've been getting in 100+ miles a week the last month, 50-63 on Saturday and 2-3 smaller rides during the week and Sunday between 18-30. on Saturday rides are typically hilly with close to 4000 ft.

I recently tuned up my synapse with new shifters, cables, chain, compact crank and tape. Same grade of component, but the bike feels and looks great. I've been trying to up my cadence the last few rides with the compact with positive results thus far.

You betcha I rode!

83 stunningly beautiful degrees and sunshine! The wind at 10 to 12 MPH and rain moving in this evening, a little overnight rain and then more on & off rain tomorrow. Rain on tap for Friday pretty much all day.

It had rained just a little this afternoon and the roads had dried by the time I tossed the Wilier into the car to head out for a ride. And actually, it was just barely spitting a few rain drops in the bright sunshine while I was loading it all up! Go figure!

No rain on the course as I tried to put a little mustard on the pedals and make the GTS talk to me. I took the short climbs easy enough and blasted like Tony Martin across the flat stuff. OK, maybe not exactly like Tony does it...

425' of easy climbing and lots of sweating. HR strap definitely had a good connection this afternoon. A fun workout session.

Today was a roll around The Burg with the single speed. An hour and a half cranking over a 52/15 in The Burg made for a great workout. Really enjoying the warm temps, and already looking forward to half day Friday.

82 degrees and sunshine. The rain held off again! The wind was 13 to 14 MPH and the course was 1400' worth of vertical over 32 miles of flat to rolling to steep terrain.

A beautiful afternoon to go out and sweat!

Man I paid for the single speed ride today. The legs were heavy from the start and never really got loose. Half day Friday and it was 81 degrees at start with a 8-10 wind that was a headwind for most the first 11 miles. Didn't have the jump on the climbs, but that didn't stop me from trying. I ended my Friday with 53 miles and got home showered and took a nap on the back deck. Oh ya I really should mow the lawn but the bike won out again, maybe this weekend.
