Over the next 18 school weeks, until the end of January 2005, I have
19 Year 6 children (age 10/11) and 2 adults to train to Level 3 of the
national standard. All say that they can ride a bike unsupported. A
further 3 children have asked for training to Level 2 and a further 5
to Level 1, two of whom have no previous experience of riding a bike.
I have to devise my own cycle training programme to the National
Standards and this is the ten lesson course I intend to offer to those
wanting training to Level 3 in groups of up to 12. (The numbers
indicate the level and the standard, points without numbers are
procedural or outside the national standard.) All lessons last 2
hours except lessons 6 and 10 which last 3 hours. Comments and advice
are welcome - this is a pilot project.
