  1. My personal program requires me to stay straight with myself and others, so
    I need to post this.

I'm going thru a solid wall of hell in the residence area of my life. Job
sucks, too, but I can live with that. My health doesn't seem to be getting
    much better, either.

The [censored] really hit the fan last week when my next door neighbor took off
for several days and left his old dog locked in his RV. After about 3 days
of listening to the poor dog howl and cry, I informed management of the
situation and they said they couldn't do anything (actually they acted more
like they didn't give a [censored] and why was I bothering them). So I let the
situation go one more day, had a consult with my vet and then called the
    cops.

When I did that, management decided to get off their asses and they called
the dog's owner and made arrangements for someone to pick up the dog. They
were very mad at me for raising hell about the situation.

The neighbor on the other side of the [censored] came over and mowed his lawn
and picked up a pile of trash he had stacked up in his front yard.

Obviously there is some truth to the phrase "trailer park trash." I bought
my trailer new three years ago and I have loved living in it. But I am
absolutely overwhelmed by the stupidity and meanness of the other residents
    in this park.
I'm moving as soon as I can find a place and giving the house back to the
    bank and filing bankruptcy.

All that rant just to say this. A chain always gives at its weakest link.
    I didn't drink, I didn't smoke, but I had three pints of Ben & Jerry's on
three different days. Ice Cream is like a tranquilizer for me and I was
    close to a nervous breakdown.

Thank God, I didn't gain even one pound, and I seem to be a little more
settled today, but this has been a rough patch - more like hell, actually.

I have 31 years sober, 3 1/2 years off cigarettes, 1 year into LC (with the
exception of the last three days) and a total loss of 40 pounds.

Don't bother giving me a hard time and heaping some more abuse on my head, I
have plenty thank you. I will killfile anyone who doesn't respond to this
with a little kindness. I am in tolerance frustration.

What's the problem again? You only had 3 days off in one year! Think about
that. 3/365 < 1%. Pretty good track record. Learn that how you look at

I wonder if that's a good idea. There might be some more stress down the
    road as a result.

  6. Be kinder to yourself, this is a terrible situation and a little ice cream
is not an evil thing. You did the right thing for the dog though you might
have called the police or animal control without informing management. They
might have kept your identity confidential to prevent retaliation. Don't
make a decision about bankruptcy in haste, is there no possibility that you
    could sell your place?

Hang in there. Everyone falls off the wagon from time to time - and the
fact that you didn't do it with the other addictive substances shows a
strength that is more than you think is there.

Just get back in the saddle, and forge ahead - we all have to. Anyone
who says they don't either has bigger issues than they think, or they're
    lying.

And look at it this way: you saved that dog. That was about cruelty to
animals, and if the folks who stood up for that neighbor don't realize
    that, they're also abusers.

    I hate dogs....evil little things....

I've fallen off the low carb waggon today after a night out last night
resulted in a burger and some orange soda to fend off the evilness of the
hang over. I'm quite lucky in that I dont get hang overs but I was worried
coz I'd not had anything to drink in weeks due to my work schedule, and the
fact that I drank almost an entire bottle of vanilla absolute in about 4
hours. So back on full steam ahead tommorrow. Halloween party in about 2
weeks so I recon I'll be doing this two weeks on, day off, two weeks on, day
off, for the next few weeks as two weeks after halloween I'm doing another
play which will no doubt results in at least one night out and several more
    drinks.

Wow, Jean, that really SUCKS! Serious friction with the neighbors can be HELL --
I had to move in the middle of the night once due to the angry (not to mention
deranged and ARMED) man who lived in the apartment under mine (and I had lived
there for 7 years prior to that). You did the right thing about the dog.

  17. Jean,
You should be really proud of yourself,,,,,,quitting drinking and
    smoking,,,,,,the 2 'big one's',,,,,with the kind of stress you're under, I
wouldn't blame you if you had a drink. It goes to show how tough you are
not to take that drink or cigarette,,,and I'm sure you'll handle everything
else in the same way. When the going gets tough, the tough get going,,,,and
    you proved it.
Don't worry about the ice cream.
And if you really like where you're living,,,don't let one A..Hole! spoil it
    for you.
There are better days ahead,,,,,this I'm sure of. Don't be so hard on
yourself. Hang in there, Jean,,,and keep posting,,,,,maybe, (I'll cross my
fingers) your nasty neighbour will move!

The [censored] really hit the fan last week when my next door neighbor took off
for several days and left his old dog locked in his RV. After about 3

    days

of listening to the poor dog howl and cry, I informed management of the

situation go one more day, had a consult with my vet and then called the
    cops.

When I did that, management decided to get off their asses and they called
the dog's owner and made arrangements for someone to pick up the dog.

    They

    Quoted message said:

were very mad at me for raising hell about the situation.

The neighbor on the other side of the [censored] came over and mowed his lawn

All that rant just to say this. A chain always gives at its weakest link.
    I didn't drink, I didn't smoke, but I had three pints of Ben & Jerry's on
three different days. Ice Cream is like a tranquilizer for me and I was
    close to a nervous breakdown.

Thank God, I didn't gain even one pound, and I seem to be a little more
settled today, but this has been a rough patch - more like hell, actually.

I have 31 years sober, 3 1/2 years off cigarettes, 1 year into LC (with

  18. You have done the right thing about the dog. Please don't beat
yourself up for the ice cream, we all go off LC from time to time. I
don't know how trailer park works, but I hope you find a better place
to park your residence soon. You don't want to stay too long around
abusers and tragedy onlookers anyway. People who didn't stand up for

    crime with the perpetuator. {{{Jean Staffen}}}

  20. You are so right, Ada Ma. And thank you to all of you who sent me hugs, good
advice and encouragement. Thanks, I NEEDED that. I'm back on LC, had a
pretty good day, and I'm looking forward to hitting the bricks on Tuesday to
find new digs. Even without the lousy neighbors, this house, the yard, the
animals, the job -- everything -- are too expensive and too much work for a
65 year old woman with emphasema. I'm fixing to start throwing off ballast.
