: : Excellent suggestion, & I don't mean that ironically. Hope some folks : who can share will do this bean sharing. There is no one here in my : milieu who is even doing low carb, no declared type 2 diabetics (but : plenty who say to me, "How did you get in shape?" & some who have : said their doctors have said their BG's are "too high" but don't know : what their numbers are, sigh).
check out your local bicycle riders' group. A lot of cyclists are type 2 diabetics or type 1 diabetics who use cycling to control the problem.

I've recently had a friend try to convince me I'm poisoning my emus and poultry giving them feed with no animal protien. Due to "mad cow" scare, most livestock feeds are discontinuing animal protein and switching to soy.
I've alwasys made sure my emus have vegatable based feeds and they AND their chicks do fine.
DH told me the other day that he has seen a lot of feral emus in TX. People who thought they would make a lot of money raising them just turned them loose because they couldn't afford to take care of them anymore. I wonder how well they do? Escaped pigs seem to be doing very well.
Some survive, some don't. Rheas do better.
Emus are not that far removed from their wild cousins and are omnivours.
Mine are pets, and I did not pay 10 grand each for them. ;-)
I got mine _after_ the market crash!
Cheers! -- Om.

I don't know what you mean by "a lot". I haven't seen any at all! A few years ago, when the bottom fell out of that market, there were some people who just let their emus out to fend for themselves. I doubt any of those birds are still alive. We have coyotes and some wolves that love to eat birds. Even some "farm dogs" are wild about emu meat. And bobcats---don't forget them. I don't think "feral" would be the right term to use about an animal that eats seeds and grains and is a walking target for many other carnivores...how about "endangered"?

What bothers me about the quotes included is that it doesn't speak to the health or lack of health of the Asian populations who have been eating copious amounts of soy for years. it seems to me that there is a "laboratory" there instead of just speculations.
Well, true enough... But, Asians mostly eat fermented soy products, not just the relatively unprocessed bean. While I don't have the cite's at hand at the moment, Asians, as a group, tend towards greater thyroid and other malady's than their western counterparts. If I find that article again, I'll post it...
Hey look! The fella asked. I was responding to him with what I'd gathered over the decades in that regard. I don't much give a hoot what he or anybody else does with 'em. Most anything you do that lowers your carbs is gonna be better than what those kinds of beans might or might not do to ya... It's just that I tend to pay attention to those kinds of signals and consider how easy it is to skip something if it doesn't seem to be adding to the "healthy" side of my equation. Others are certainly welcome to do what they wish...

: Huh? Do you see me "dictating" by what I said? I don't!
Well, you are the one who used the word "let" as in "how many should I let my wife eat". That implies that you have control over what she eats and in control, there is permission.
Oh nonsense, Pat. You're taking this wa-a-ay too far! I mean "let" like in let her eat how many before I say something. She's a big girl and doesn't need my permission. But if I've found that something isn't all that good for you, would it be better that I say nothing and let you eat it? Maybe if you or others reading here were doing that I might. But I care about her, so I'm bound to say something...
It's a pretty good bet that after your "last" 15 pounds, you'll still be plenty plump.

I suppose there might be a market for fat trannys.
You might as well give it a shot.
