fun of all the bikes I tested. I was turned off by the [censored]

When measuring up for DIY or whatever, I would most often
use millimetres, though just in numbers, not the thousands

Entirely. We weren't especially impressed with the
neatness of finishing on the Mistral either, and though I
appreciate the design aspects of making the seat part of
the frame I found the front lip turned up too much to be
really comfortable and the frame integration aspect and no
front sus meant you got every single bit of road vibration
going. Roos actually had to stop with blurred vision
traversing one of the block paved roads that seem quite
common in the NL :-(

Great shame, put me off even trying the Taifun hanging in
the shop, which at least aesthetically I consider one of the
hottest 'bents going.

Really it was a stark demonstration that you're really best
off trying out 'bents in person rather than relying on paper
specs. There was nothing wrong with the Mistral on paper for
either of us.

brakes whatsoever from HPVel's end and have Bikefix put on
Hopes for you. I don't see why that should present any

Tried a Hurricane once, glad I bought the Speedmachine.
Tried a Jester once, glad I bought the Baron. The Challenge

You must've missed my endless whinging about my Hope brakes
then - bloody things keep jamming on, to the extent that I
carry a spanner with me at all times specially to bleed them
as necessary. I've had them serviced twice at different bike
shops and they still do it, causing small outbreaks of blue
air in various rural spots in East Yorks...

I shall be changing them for Magura Bigs as soon as we can
afford new kingpins etc for my GTO.

Everybody else says that Hopes are really good. We have a
set of Minis in this houshold (sadly, not on one of my
bikes) and they are very good indeed. Also, it's widely said
that the Hope factory is very helpfun with excellent
customer service. So I'd suggest you give them a ring and
explain the problem. They may be able to fix it for lots
less the price of new king pins.
