2) Pretty much for cokers cause some of my friends are shorter then me
and even if i cut the seatpost. It wouldn't make that make a

Adjustable cranks are most useful on 36" unicycles. The ability to
adjust length for flat riding to hilly makes a huge difference. 125mm
or shorter for some for flatter riding. 150mm - 175mm for hill
climbing. I have made several sets with the old Kooka cranks (which are
hard to come by) and several forum members are using them.

I have a set of cranks that I have made that adjust to seven diferent
lengths. I have been using them on my Radial 360 for over a year now.
The counrtyside is very hilly where I live in central Georgia. and it
is nice to be able to pull off the road and set the cranks longer to
climb the realy steep grades, in the middle to ride on smaller hills
and short to cover lots of ground where the road is flat.

It's not the length of the cranks that would bother me, i would like
something like a mechanism that could lift the cranks up so that way
people like some of my friends can experience what it's like to ride
150mm or 125mm. 😄 😄

Yes, for road riding and 29ers that go on and off road. I don't think
many 24" or smaller would have much need.

I've just had some 150mm/127mm cranks custom made from ProWheel alloy
cranks.

Adjustable cranks are a good idea. I'd use them for either muni or
cokering, primarily. I guess I'd quite like the option of having 3
holes, if possible. If I've just got two it'd be nice to have
something good and short as the "fast" setting (e.g. 150mm/110mm or
even 150/100mm).

I'd want cotterless for my unis, I don't have any splined setups. At
least KH do have (expensive) multi-holed cranks for an ISIS machine,
whereas the cotterless market doesn't seem to have any. I paid less
than 20 pounds to have the machining done on my 12 quid ProWheels, so
the price I'd want to pay would be limited, I guess.

I'd also note that self-extracting crank bolts seem to have potential
for changes of gear whilst on a ride. It'd be nice if the major
manufacturers would look at offering these.

Adjustable cranks seem to be most useful for Coker riding. Coker riding
can span the gammut from needing short cranks to spin fast on the flats
to needing longer cranks for more control for Coker muni.

Adjustable length cranks for muni use would have to be stronger. And
even if they were available and strong enough I don't think I'd bother
with them for muni. I'd rather keep things simple with the muni. And
stopping to fuss with crank length during a ride doesn't fit with my
muni philosophy.

I do have three hole cranks for my Coker (130mm, 150mm, 170mm). I like
them. Handy to be able to change crank length without needing to swap
cranks. I have never changed the crank length mid-ride. I set it for
what I want for the ride and make do with that.

'daVinci Design' (http://www.davincitandems.com/comp.html#cranks) makes
a three hole square taper crank that has pedal holes for 130, 150, and
170. The cranks are suitable for unicycle use and the spider
attachment is removable. They are, however, expensive.

Although I do think I *might* occasionally change crank length during
the offroad part of a ride, my main motivation for getting multi length
cranks was because I often have to cycle miles to get to any
interesting terrain 🙁 I guess I'm not the normal case in that I don't
have a car, I think for me being able to do the boring sections quicker
is worth the hassle of swapping the pedals over.

I have a set of the adjustable Kookas on my GB4 36...quite possibly one
of the sets in pdc's picture, since he was my source. I love them.
Unlike JC, I change them mid-ride all the time. I live on a plateau
that's about 350 to 400 vertical feet above a neighboring river valley.
One of my favorite distance rides is to drop off the plateau, using my
150s for the 6 mile decent, then change the pedals to the 130 setting
for 15-25 miles of relatively flat riding in the river valley, then
swap back to 150s for the climb back to my house.

I have it down to where I can change lengths on both pedals and adjust
my seat in less than 2 minutes, so it's not a big deal.

Go adjustable cranks!

I would like a smaller length, like 125s, to a bigger one around the
150ish area.

I dont think many will use them for hard/technical muni, but a lot will
use it for XC muni and distance riding.

Cruise along quickly on a single track or a bike path, or when you get
to a long hilly section, ascending and descending, switch to the longer
size position.

I would love some 110, 125, 145 cranks but I think thats pretty much
impossible so some 105 ones instead of 125's would be nice. Also it
would be nice to have some that didn't require tools to do, and didn't
require taking the pedal off would be really amazing too. Infact if
there was a tool needed but it could be small and didn't require taking
any parts off it would be nice.

Ah yes, one of our fav recurring topics. One issue would be making the
saddle raise or lower simultaneously with such cranks, in order to
preserve riding position. I'm not saying it can't be done, but this is
one of those "holy grail" designs in the world of unicycling, along
with an easily-shiftable-on-the-fly hub.
