    Aloha,

    Rich

My grandson (at age 3-1/2) got into some Niacin which a
neighbor had sitting outside on a table, took some, and was
rushed to the hospital. Getting the affect of Niacin was the
    neighbor's method of getting "high".

  2. You can quote pubmed all you want, it doesn't make what you
post true. You are talking elevated symptoms of liver
toxicity - that is not liver toxicity, and hasn't to my
knowledge been shown to be hepatoxicity. (Read Hoffers
rebuttal on this) Show me some significant deaths and I will
believe you. There's also no indication to what these
'pubmed testimonials' were suffering from other diseases
(i.e. were their livers already shot ?) in conjunction to
their reported effects. If Niacin was as dangerous as you
make out then there would be many cases of liver
hepatoxicity happening in the mega dozers. There isn't, so
that kind of throws a spanner in your works. It's the same
kind of [censored] that happened with acorbate and kidney stones.

    doctoryourself.comhoffer factoids.html
(snipping) Quotes :- The factoid niacin causes liver damage
is analyzed thoroughly by William Parsons Jr, who shows that
niacin will often increase liver function tests but that
these increases do not arise from liver pathology. (and it
goes on to say) 'The main danger from taking niacin is not
jaundice, it is that people will live longer. '

I can show you cases of people who have died drinking water
(hyponatremia), it doesn't mean water is toxic, showing that
your weasel whine about everything being toxic in sufficient
is truly a weasel out attempt. Now does this mean you are
going to cue the presses (as you so like to quote) and
declare water as toxicI doubt it?

Niacin toxicity does exist, it is rare, so rare in fact that
    its significance melts away. Anth.

So why on earth is Jan taking medications which are
just going to cover up her real problem and give her
side effects? Has not Jan learned that the medications
are just going to cause her problems?? She must be
addicted to these medications if she cannot stop them??

Some day Jan will blame Elavil and Neurontin for wiping

warning her about the side effects of Elavil and
Neurontin. Some things are so predicable.

IMHO, modern medicine is "incomplete" medicine.

Modern medicine should use diet medicine techniques
first; modern medicine should use nutritional medicine
techniques second; and only lastly ---> modern medicine
should use as the last resort -> pharm drug medicine.

Most M.D.s reverse this order of good medical
    techniques.

Of course, most people, too, fail to follow (good)
    diet medicine.

Notice how Jan Drew does not say whether she still
takes Elavil and Neurontin. If she responds to this she
will likely say that it is none of my business. But Jan
makes it her business to try to convince people that
she had mercury poisoning despite her history
indicating otherwise. And when Jan's lies and hypocrisy
are exposed all she can do is make personal attacks.
    Sad that.

It would be simple for Jan to say that she still takes
the meds or does not. But she won't do that. And the
reason she will not do that is because she realizes
that if she tells the truth that she is still taking
the medications then her accusation that I lied about
her currently taking the medications will be another in
a long line of lies that Jan tells. What a completely
pathetic individual. She spends countless hours on
usenet trying to convince people that she really had
mercury poisoning when it is obvious that she did not.
And Jan Drew clearly seems to realize it, as she
deliberately manipulates her history to make mercury
    poisoning seem likely.

Jan Drew says that the reason she knows it was the
mercury because she did not *begin* to regain her
health until *after* her mercury level dropped.

Funny. Jan says that she began to feel better the
minute the mercury was removed. AT that point the
mercury level did not yet drop.

She said she felt better than she had in two years
within hours of having eight amalgams removed. At that
point the mercury level did not yet drop.

And then a week later Jan was able to line dance and
foot pain went away completely when her mercury level
was likely the highest in her life. And at that point
not only had the mercury level not dropped but it
likely was even higher than when she first had the
amalgams out. It takes a while for the mercury to be
deposited in the tissues while circulating in the blood
following inhaling them during the extraction process.

Of course the pain returned since placebo responses
are transient and Jan had to continue on the Elavil
and Neurontin and was told she may have to take it for
a long time because the damage done may be permanent.

Jan knows that she is still taking those medications.
But she is so desperate to trash me that she must
continue her lies and bearing false witness. May God
    have merc(ur)y on Jan's soul.

No, not Alzheimer's. Jan's self-reported history and her

    Quoted message said:

When anyone mentions this disease, Jan stridently denies
its very existence, which is itself a symptom of the
disease. When Jan states for the fiftieth time that
"conventional medicine has no answers," she's admitting
that she has done the usual dance from doctor to doctor
that is characteristic of SD sufferers, searching for a
doctor that will give her a physical diagnosis instead of
telling her truthfully that she has a mental disorder. She
has also (typically) danced from altie quack to altie
quack, but has been more satisfied with them, because each
has diagnosed a physical cause for her discomfort, and
prescribed "therapy" that has provided temporary relief
because of the psychosomatic phenomenon. She even got
relief for awhile by "zapping" her "parasites" with Quack
    Hulda's profitable but worthless gadget.

Jan hates conventional medicine because she perceives that
doctors tell her she's crazy. (Doctors do often stigmatize
SD victims, primarily out of the frustration involved in
treating them.) She would rather be told she is poisoned
by her dental restorations than admit that her mind is
causing her to feel ill. Actually, conventional medicine
does offer effective treatment, but the patient must get
beyond denial to accept psychiatric treatment, and it's
unlikely that Jan will ever do so.

I wonder if Jan will ever admit that her symptoms are just
as bad as they ever were before she had all her fillings
removed. It would be difficult for her, because to do so
would be to admit she wasted all that money on a quack,
and would negate her ongoing campaign against amalgam and
    mercury in any form.

For a good description of summarization disorder, go here:

    nlm.nih.gov000955.htm

Jan says she killfiled me. But if she does read this,
watch her post sites that claim that SD was invented by
evil organized medicine to cover their inability to
treat real diseases that don't fit into the cookbook
form of practice they learned in medical school. Denial

No, not Alzheimer's. Jan's self-reported history and her
behavior clearly show the classic symptoms of
summarization disorder. When anyone mentions this
disease, Jan stridently denies its very existence, which
is itself a symptom of the disease. When Jan states for
the fiftieth time that "conventional medicine has no
answers," she's admitting that she has done the usual
dance from doctor to doctor that is characteristic of SD
sufferers, searching for a doctor that will give her a
physical diagnosis instead of telling her truthfully that
she has a mental disorder. She has also (typically)
danced from altie quack to altie quack, but has been more
satisfied with them, because each has diagnosed a
physical cause for her discomfort, and prescribed
"therapy" that has provided temporary relief because of
the psychosomatic phenomenon. She even got relief for
awhile by "zapping" her "parasites" with Quack Hulda's

Somatization disorder I have never seen a case of SD in
which there was not a significant personality disorder.
    cfsdoc.orgsomat.htm

Jan Drew's case is complicated by the fact that she likely
has a peripheral neuropathy which is a real physical illness
with characteristic symptoms. Apparently her doctors were
unable to determine the cause of her PN. Jan Drew, unable to
accept that there was not a clear reason for her illness,
turned to alternoquacks who will ALWAYS find a cause for ANY
illness. Forget about whether the cause they come up with
has any validity or reliability. What IS important is that
the patient is convinced of the validity.

Jan Drew first became convinced that parasites were the
cause of all her problems. Of course this did not last
long. After reading more of Hulda she became convinced that
it was mercury poisoning. However I am convinced that Jan
DRew NOW realizes that she never had mercury poisoning. And
the reason why I believe this is because Jan deliberately
changed her history to make it appear more likely that she
had mercury poisoning and when I confronted her about her
lie that she did not begin to regain her health until after
her mercury level dropped, Jan responds by making a
    personal attack.

And while Jan Drew likely has peripheral neuropathy, the
severity of her symptoms is markedly influenced by
psychologic factors such as worrying about having mercury
poisoning causing her rapid decline and relief that she was
getting the mercury out causing her rapid improvement. It
does not get much more obvious than her history for an
example of how psychologic factors can have dramatic effects
    on one's physical health.

While I certainly agree that Jan's symptoms and history
strongly suggest some type of somatization disorder,
the diagnoses of Alzheimers Disease and SD are not
mutually exclusive. In fact I suspect that Jan probably
meets the criteria for several disorders. IOW she has
    layered problems.

But the worst of her problems is neither mental nor
physical. Her worst problem is her anger, hatred, and
bigotry that gets spewed regularly in this newsgroup and her
proclivity for disrupting conversations whenever anyone
expresses a view that differs from hers by calling people
liars, member of EOM, Jew Boy, etc.

But the definition can get circular. For example if I say
that you have Somatization Disorder and you deny it I can
say that is a symptom of the disorder.

Not only did she get relief but she said that she thought
that parasites were the explanation for all her problems. Of
course weeks later she thought she was dying of mercury
poisoning after reading about the possibility in a Hulda
Clark book. Jan is clearly very suggestible as evidenced by
the rapid decline in her health followed by equally rapid
improvement within hours of having some amalgams removed.
Placebo responses can indeed be quite dramatic. But alas the
symptom relief is often short lived as evidenced by return
of her symptoms (pain from PN).

Denial of the illness will prevent her from getting help. Of
course once a person stops denying the illness that is 90%
    of recovering from
    it.

Yes. Cognitive dissonance prevents Jan from accepting that
she got taken to the cleaners.

Yes, and it's amusing that the quacks' diagnoses of the
causes always seem to be the very disorder that their own
brand of quackery treats. If they sell zappers, the problem
is parasites. If they are chiropractors, the disorder is a
subluxation. If they replace fillings, the diagnosis is
    mercury toxicity. And so on.
